Title: Vixen Error
Post by: mms on November 18, 2013,
Just wondering if everyone has seen this error before.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled Vixen.

It's been suggested that I try re-installing to a new directory, which I will do when I get home.  Any other suggestions are appreciated as well.

Try running it as Administrator.

In fact I seem to remember seeing this before. I am thinking there was a plugin that was bad and unneeded. Is there another screen showing a different error? Than again I could be totally off here and if so I will blame my pain meds LOL

All my vixens are installed as C:\vixen and not C:\program files\vixen and I've never had a problem.  I'm wondering if it has something to do with being inside the program files area.

I can't offer any help but it happened to me recently when I tried to open a new sequence that I had just downloaded from the web but I never had this happened on a working sequences.

That is correct a corrupt seq file will cause a memory failure in Vixen.

The Program files directory does have significant restrictions that need to be delt with.  Most installers have the ability to make the required Registry entries needed to give the required permissions to these directories and any sub directories created within the Program Files directory.  I would install Vixen in a directory created directly on C: such as C:\Vixen.

This did work... I just have to re-write my RGB program to save to the correct directory.

Thanks for the help!

Just because you are an administrator doesn't mean that the software will run as such.  If you tell the software to run as admin, then it will give it the rights to do so.  Since this sftware doesn't have an installer, it really is a bad idea to install it in the programs directory where real damage can happen if something goes wrong.
