Title: Light Bulb instead of 100 ohm 3 W resistor on SS hub
Post by: Night Owl on February 14, 2012,
Was there some discussion about using a light bulb instead of the 100 ohm resistor in the hub?  I tried searching for it, but couldn't find it (try and search for "resistor," "light" or "bulb" on this site  ;D)  I was thinking about building a bench power supply out of an computer power supply and I've seen a ton of recommendation (resistor, automotive bulb, CD drive) and I thought I saw something similar here.  Or maybe I imagined it.

The problem with using a light bulb is that they do burn out and in many cases they fail on startup.  This could throw off the regulation in some supplies and could possibly cause damage.
