Getting started
« on: January 11, 2010, »
Hi All,

I would like to get started with the testing and playing around. I have some idea of what I want but would like to hear some other stories successes, errors, recommendation.

What I was thinking about was getting a freestyle and 5 or 6 ssr4's to start out and order more when I want more channels.

Also if you made a conversion cable could you set this up with a light board like is used in an auditorium?

Just to be clear though you don't need the DMX on SSR4 to dim the lights, do you?

Thanks,
Charlie

If the light board is a DMX board then yes it will work with the Freestyle but remember, the equipment here is not intended for commercial use.
You do not need the DMX components for the SSR4 to dim.  The DMX components make the SSR4 a 4 channel DMX dimmer that does not need the Freestyle.
If at first you don't succeed,
your not cut out for sky diving

OK thanks for the answer

The lightboard that I found used wasn't DMX so it wouldn't have worked anyways but it was used for fairly cheap so I thought I'd ask.
