This Co-Op is for the Lynx Express. As explained later on there will be three kit options.
Please Note there is no limit on these units. You may order how ever many you need.
The only limit will be the $5000 coop limit per coop rules.
*********************************************************************************
Kit1 - Lynx Express Complete Kit Parts, PCB, Heat Sink
Kit2 - Lynx Express Heatsink (Anodized Red)
Kit3 - Lynx Express PCB only
No kits will contain the Cases as it is just as cost effective for the users to order them and easier for the coop managers.
This Coop will close on march 31 2009 at 8:00 PM Eastern Standard Time zone or if it is filled sooner it will be closed at that time. Full Payment is expected when the coop is closed no orders can be made until all members have paid. All members will receive PM’s when the coop closes with details of payments due.
Please get your paypal payments in as soon as you get the Co-Op invoice PM as no orders can be placed until all payments have been received.
By joining this Co-Op you also agree that the Co-Op manager, DLA (as a board to also include all administrators, moderators, and members) shall not be held for any liability. You are joining this Co-Op at your own risk.
What is a Lynx Express you may ask?
Well the Lynx Express is a new 16 Channel controller based off the popular Lynx and FreeStyle designs but with some nice new features. The Lynx Express supports on board push button start address programming, the ability to program the Pic without removing it from the controller, and On board diagnostics. In addition this controller has some advanced features.
Some of the features are:
1. Custom dimming curves that can be assigned on a per channel basis. What this means is that you can have standard and Led light strings plugged into your controller and be able to get them to dim at the same rate.
2. Testing. If you have problems with your LE. You can now put the LE into a diagnostics mode that will help isolate those problems.
3. Future item. Wireless Yes that’s right this controller will support a plug and play module that will allow your controller to go wireless.
As with any Co-Op this Co-Op is subject to the forum rules. These rules can be reviewed using the following link.
Forum Co-Op rules
http://diylightanimation.com/index.php?topic=111.0
You will receive all the parts you need for the complete kit, Heatsink, or just the PCB based on what your order. To complete your setup you will need power cords for the AC hookup and a DMX dongle to use along with the Vixen software program. At the time of this writing I can only suggest the use of the Lynx USB DMX adapter or the Enttec Pro. There are other adapters that can be used but due to issues that have been found with them I cannot recommend them.
Now for the pricing. Well by now I am sure that you have asked what about pricing? How much do I need to pay to get one or more of these great Lynx Express units?
BOM’s can be found in the DLA wiki at the following URL.
http://diylightanimation.com/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page
We have a base goal of 75 kits. This goal allows the cost per unit to drop low enough to make it cost effective.
Pricing is below broken into the 75 unit levels. The pricing below will include all fees, shipping and handling charges to get the items to the Coop Manager. Full Details are included in the attached spreadsheet as per coop rules.
*****75 Kit Level*****
Kit1 – Lynx Express Complete Kit /w heatsink (No Case) $67.76
Kit2 - Heatsink $5.75
Kit3 - PCB $11.21
Shipping will be based on the USPS flat rate box. This is the box that will ship in the US for $10.35 a box and international for $29.95 Canada and Mexico $41.95. This is the shipping cost per flat rate box.
Depending on the quantity we end up with we may well have parts on backorder so this coop is being started early enough in the year to make sure we have time to fill this with plenty of time for everyone to build all of them for the season. We could be looking at 2 months from the time of part order to the time of shipment to you. This would be about the end of May for you to have them.
Post with the quanitity you wish in this thread.

Man we hit $5000 in like 10 hours overnight. ;D
We are going to waive the limit do to the demand and let it run until we think the quanitity is starting to be a challenge on this coop.
Not sure with the backorder of parts on these big orders how many more express coops we will be able to do this year so we are opening this one up with no limit. We have a bunch of other coops like the Express Wireless/ MR16 / ... to run yet this year also.

LMAO!
I just noticed that, I am such a goof.
I will pleasingly take:
1 - Kit #1
1 - kit #2
1 - kit #3

Abell,
just making sure, you only need a kit 1. It comes with a heatsink, PCB, and parts.
-
RJ please put me down for
2 Kit#1
Thank You
-
Hello
I am interested in one kit #1
Thank you
-
memphislights,
Yeah, I am sure about that order. Thanks for checking though, I have had one of those days. I basically needed 1 full kit, and then at least the heat sink and a pcb for that extra board down the road.
-
Put me down for 1 of kit #1. I could do up to 8 if the prices drop more. If anyone could let me know the proposed price for the kits at the current number (part prices for around 150 kits vs the original price for 75 kits).. As long as the price stays around $55 bucks or less for each kit 1, then that will be in the range of what I have in my freestyles, and I'd be willing to make the switch.
Thanks -Mike

I can not tell you exactly what the price will be but it will not be that cheap for a complete kit with pcb and heatsink (kit #1).
RJ
-
Fair enough... but its definitely worth the price difference for the expresses capabilities. Lemme work some things out and see just how many I can swing. Count me for one still (kit #1). Thanks
-
Well, I just sold my freestyle and ssr's so now I'm sitting pretty. Put me down for 7 kit 1's and if the price gets down to ~$65 a kit we can make it an even 8 kits. Thanks
-
RJ
Please put me down for: 3 Kit #1
Thank you!
Russ
-
Put me in for (6) kit #1. I may have to cancel this but that is not likely, due to economy. Just wanted to reserve my space.
-
PLease add 2 more to mine making it 8
-
RJ,
Please put me down for 6 kit #1s.
Thanks,
Paul
-
Sorry, post removed by me.
-
The last combined LE (COOP 1 and 2) coop prices came in at $61/unit + shipping, and I believe we are past the number of units, so I would budget with the 61 +/- in mind.
Folks ... Please leave the pricing of coops to the managers. There are many cost involved that you are not aware of. Things like extra parts that were left over that were reused. The cost of static foam ($25 for a little sheet) ECT. The only person that should put any prices for people to consider in a coop is the manager running it.
I have had to post this on almost every coop we have run. If you are not running the coop leave the prices to those that are.
This is for a reason. I am the one that has had to deal with a couple people who were upset when that got the pm for the cost of a coop and it was not what they thought because a member posted what they though it was going to be in the coop and the person thought that was the price.
Please post what you want from the coop here that should be all that is in here.
Thank You
RJ
-
I would like 2 of kit 1
Please!
Thanks Russ
-
Itchy... you are aware that kit #1 includes heatsinks, right?
-
Could you put me down for 4 of the #1 kits.
Play time coming up ;D
-
In my exuberance my stupidity I did not notice that the heat sinks was included. Please adjust my order for just 2 number 1s please! >:D
-
RJ-
I have been debating whether or not to order a couple more before the deadline - is there any way we can get a ballpark figure for the kit#1? I am trying to budget based on the additional parts needed (case, cords, etc.).
Thanks!
I know it would be nice to have a running cost but not very practical for a number of reasons.
1 - it would require me to have mouser rep quote the parts every time we want an update. They are a company not setup to deal with small groups so well and are use to a bid going in and then that being it. If I bug them that much they will not want to work with us as much at the end.
2- It would consume a lot of my time. I know this seems a small thing but most of you would be shocked at the amount of time that running the forum and designing stuff and answering all the many PM's I get ( average maybe 20 a day or more) reply to post ect. ect ect. Working up deals on heatsinks with companies, get pcb's designed and order for coops, Ect And I have a full family with three kids and an often fourteen hour a day job.
3 - The reason I can not look at the number and see it is over what Bill and Keith had is for two reasons.
Bill have some supplys from prevous coops, He got mouser to up many parts to the next level of parts which I can not be sure they will do for me, I hope they will, They messed up on his shipping and gave him like over half of the shipping for free. (not likely going to happen to me.) So there are many things took that coop setup at $67 and dropped it to $61. And remember it dropped at the end when he did his pricing at the end of the coop.
I hope to come in at least as cheap but we have to wait to see I can not afford to price it low and eat the difference any more on stuff I feel I have to make sure to break even. So I guess if $2 one way makes a difference enough to make you decide to buy more or less I would say order less. The problem will be people order more then drop some after the quotes or the person ordering a bunch and dropping out as the prices are driven by the amount so it would drive the numbers up and make us requote everything.
As I said it should be far less than $67 and most likely no less than $61 as bill got most prices based on the next higher break which were very high parts count that we will never hit even at 400 units.
RJ

Please put me in for
2 Kit #1

Just a reminder to all the junior members who are ordering equal numbers of ALL kits.
Kit#1 will have everything you need minus the case. You don't have to order a kit 2 and Kit 3 unless you really need extra of those items.

I know this, iId like to build two and have two PCB's and heatsinks for later on. The parts can be buyed always the PCB's and Heatsinks only when there is a COOP. For me this is certainly no misstake to order equal number of the kits.
But very thanks for the notice in case I did make a misstake.
-
Please increase my order by 6 from the current 4 to the new 10. It be impossible for me to not take advantage of this opportunity on this marvelous piece of technology.

RJ,
i would like to order 2 PCB's but first can you confirm for me how much shipping would be to aust.

could you let me know.
thanks
Peter

That is for a kit in flat rate box. PCB only orders within reason would go in a padded envelope and cost about $10 to send postage. If you add kits it would go flat rate and be the $41.95
RJ

The 3rd Express Coop of 2009 is closed!
Please check your totals on the second post of the coop and make sure of the amounts. I will give everyone till the weekend for members to PM any errors.
NOTE: I will not add units to your order or add you to the coop. If there is a mistake I will be happy to fix it.
Once this has passed I will begin the process of quoting all the parts out and sometime next week I will post the per unit prices here in the thread. I then will be sending PM's for payment. I can not order anything until the payments are all made so please do not hold up the order and get your payments in as soon as I send you the PM.
Thanks
RJ

The price for the kits is as follows:
Kit #1 (Parts,Pcb,Heatsink) $59.00
Kit #2 (Heatsink) $5.75
Kit #3 (Pcb) $9.10
This includes the Coop Fee & Paypal but not the Shipping fee.
This is more than $8 less than the posted amount.
I will be sending out PM’s this weekend for the amount you owe. Please pay as soon as you can after you get the PM so we can order. Please do not hold up everyone else. I can not order till I get all the payments.
I will include the Shipping cost in the PM so it will be a total.
I have unlocked the thread for the use of all again, I can not add any orders to the Coop so please do not ask.
RJ

$59 bucks. That's awesome. You may want to change the text to "CLOSED" as usual. Just a friendly reminder.
-
Yes thanks.
RJ
-
Ok the PM's will not have the shipping included but instead I will send a Pm out to you later when yours is ready to ship with the shipping.
This is because as I started to work on it I found it is hard to tell how many flat rate boxes and which ones would be needed for all the different counts. There are so many combonations of Kits,Pcbs & heatsinks in this coop.
This will make sure no one is over charged or underchaged for shipping.
RJ
-
Ok all PM's have been sent. If you do not have one and you are a member of this coop listed on the second post please PM me and let me know this.
Please do not PM me or post to tell me you have paid. I will see it and within a day I will have it listed on the list on that second post. If in two days after you pay you do not see yourself listed as having paid then PM me then and let me know.
Thanks
RJ
-
If you are sending paypal for this coop do not select services as this will leave your address off the paypal to me. also do not add shipping as this will be sent later.
As of this time of this post the list is current. If you do not have a Y in the field marked paid but you have sent a paypal please check paypal your payment was refunded do to a missing info, wrong number of units, wrong amount, ect. Please fix and resubmit again.
Thanks

Any plans for another Express Coop in upcoming months?

Any plans for another Express Coop in upcoming months?
It will be a few months before we have enough interest again.
RJ
-
If you are one of the five people who still have not paypal your payment for the express coop please do so before tommorrow afternoon. I will be placing the orders and removing any unpaid orders from the list. I then will post the new price at that level of units. I am sorry but I can not hold up the coop longer for everyone else.
RJ

Between Smartcontrols and ElectricCraft1 they could impact the pricing a bit.
Too bad.
-
Smartcontrols is dealing with a Paypal issue so I expect him to be payed he would already if not for that.
I am not sure if electricraft is one of the ones that was refunded or not. That could be one of the ones I could not figure out who they were and had to refund. If so I would assume he would have resubmitted by now.
RJ

Perhaps you might PM swackdog, and others as well, and see if he's interested in acquiring some of the "available" kits that are unpaid, or he could PM RJ if he's willing to pay right away, before recalculating.
I realize doing a COOP is a lot of work for whomever is running it, but it seems like a lot more to have to deal with recalculating and reposting everyone for the difference. Sort of like starting all over again. I guess it could be redone at the time the shipping cost is requested from everyone, though.
Just a thought.

I would rather not start that as it is just more issues to deal with. Everyone had a month to put in for as many as they wanted and I plan to move ahead with those numbers.

I would think that since the next coop may be quite some time out that would be enough encouragement to get paid up or wait for months.
If someone is sitting on the fence and thinking that they might just wait I'll tell you from first hand experience that it takes twice to 3 times as long to build, test and sequence than you think. Murphy has a way of making a believer out of you real quick.

My theory is these guys are the type that check in every now and then. I think they'll be very disappointeed indeed after finding out they probably should check in a little more often. ;)

I normally would not post this here but I understand how nervous some of you may be.
I finally got the problem with Paypal worked out and was able to send my payment now.
I am very, very sorry for the problems this caused and apologize to everyone for the delay.

All,
I know my order isn't much and will not affect any pricing (only 3 PCB's and 3 heatsinks ordered), however I wanted the group to know what is going on so as to not hold up the COOP intentionally. There is something wrong with paypal for me as well. I made my payment on the 6th, my bank posted it on the 7th, however RJ isn't showing it on his side. I have been working with RJ to try and figure this out and see why he's not receiving the transaction. I apologize to the group for the delay this has caused from my side.
On another note, my wife and I had our second child in the middle of March (3/11) and things have been rather hectic between my home and work lives... hence, the lack of presence from me over the past month. I try to check in but generally haven't had much of an opportunity to be as involved as I have been.
I appreciate everyone's patience and want to say I'm sorry for being one of the "holdups" so far on the COOP payment category.

Jeff it is no big deal thats why I told them it was a paypal thing.

I am checking right now to see if it is my mistake. I got the transaction number and can find it if it's there now.
Everyone needs to remember on coops that the guys on the receiving end have only what's in the paypal to tell them the stuff. And we all go by usernames on the forum. This causes a problem when a paypal comes in as it will always have an email but these rarely match up to your username. So if you do not have your :
Shipping Address in paypal - we do not know where to send it. We can not print the labels for the ones that do that from paypal.
Username - We likely will not know you since your real name and email address mean very little to most of us as we will have never called you or maybe even known your real name.
What you ordered - This is not as world ending but it does make it much easier for the guy doing all the work for you to save money. It lets him sort parts, make up packs, and then go to one place to pack it all up to ship. He pulls up paypal and pulls up the first payment and then
Oh its user XXXX he needs 4 of these (throws them in a box) 2 of those (throws them in a box) hits the label print, sticks it on a box and he is done with one order.
Otherwise he has to go back and forth finding it in the paypal and the Coop order pages.
This is why we made it a Coop rule to get users to do this things and have to refund it you do not.
RJ

Just like climbing the watertower with a can of spray paint to defend my sister's honor... here's my attempt at clearing my name. ;D
I attached a snapshot of my paypal transaction... I hope I did everything right as far as details in paypal are concerned so as to not be a complete moron.
Disclaimer: I know I'm a partial moron. ;)

All parts are ordered. We ended with 230 parts kits and all the pcbs and heatsinks.
We should have all of them out in about 8 weeks. There are some backorders that go out about 3-4 weeks but some of you will get them sooner as will will get some of all the parts in the next week or so.
You guys owe JJ big time as he is going to be doing alot if not most of the sorting.
RJ

What does JJ need/like?

I would rather not start that as it is just more issues to deal with. Everyone had a month to put in for as many as they wanted and I plan to move ahead with those numbers.
RJ
Just another thought...not meant to open any issues but we should also remember that new people may not get the full time (month in this case) to decide what they want and then change if need be...but it is the way it is. We can't make it perfect for everyone and still have a functioning GREAT community like we have.

Very true we have to set the plan and make it happen. And remember thats why there is always another coop before christmas! LOL
RJ
-
They posted how much all together they saved for everyone on the ren ss parts coop and I thought that it was a cool idea.
So I did it up on our current coop.
Everyone together save :
21.76 each unit or about 30% that comes to :
$5004.80 total
RJ
-
WOW! WOW! and WOW!
You saved like a whole coop!
-
Outstanding! :o
Thank you RJ, future thank you's to JJ and thank you to all who participated in this Coop making it such a HUGE success.
Greg

JJ has already sorted all the hardware for the heatsinks!!! :o
The Metal arrived and was dropped off at the machine shop to be turned into heatsinks. As soon as they are done I will send them to the anodizer to be coated.
Parts will begin arriving Wednesday and do so for about a month on the backorderd items. As promised we should have them out to you by the end of june or earlier barring any unforeseen problems. At the moment all is going well.
RJ
-
;D
Did JJ ever say if there was anything that he needed or would like?

Yes, he does not want you guys to make a big deal out of it! LOL no serious! He does not want anything. But thanks.

JJ has completed all of the clear bag of parts minus a couple units that he was shorted on parts for, Those will be here the end of the week. One backordered shipment has come in but until one of the backorder parts gets here he can not start on the static bag.
RJ
-
Picked up Heatsinks from machine shop. Can't get them shipped to the anodizer until Monday but will get them off to them to be plated. JJ's Waiting on backordered parts to come in.

Thankyou soooo much RJ and JJ. You guys are obviously working hard. Wish I was closer so I could come over and chip in.

Ok, we could not ship any today as it took all day to get them packaged up to go out.
They are all packed so get your shipping payments in and they will all go out next Monday at one time.
But in the meanwhile here is a picture of the shipment.
RJ
-
Funny, I expected a larger stack of boxes.
:D
-
Why don't you make the last column "Ship Paymen' that tends to encourage people to get things done. Don't want to be the one that held up the shipment for everyone!
Was that Monday next week?
-
By my count I see 63 boxes....... that be a BUNCH of packing........ well done!!!!
Larry
-
Stack looks good. Thanks for all the hard work and dedication.

Add me to list of folks who received their kits yesterday. This is my first ever coop, and it was a great experience. Like many others, kudos to JJ and RJ for a very well packaged shipment.
Started generating solder smoke last night, didn't get very far due to some other issues at the house yesterday.
All in all, looks like a very good design and I'm looking forward to dimming some lights!
