I'm curious what everyone will be using the new Smart Strings for?  Please post what your plans are.

Hi Jeff

I am starting out small and just doing window frames. After that I want to replace my micro tree red and green lights with SS and of course one day to have a SS mega tree.

Cheers

The columns on the front of our house.
I am trying to talk the boss in to making a reader board for the front of our store.

i was thinking of outlining the house or a 10' mega tree.  stringing them in some sort of chasing design might look cool as well.  I would definitely like to see them in person, how bright they are, how easy they are to strap or manipulate.

Right now I am planing a 16 string mega tree. I may cut it down to 14 and use one string for an arch and one string for a star.

If all goes well for next year the following year I would like 3,200 nodes and replace allot of the lights in my display.

Right now I am like 99% incandescent and and am moving allot of the display items to be four colors, white, red, green, color.

Power is becoming and issue, LED's are expensive and controllers are not cheap.

So right now If I wanted to add 4 strings (light count 100) to the display it would be 4 strings * 4 strings of lights per string = 16 light sets * 12$ per set = 192$ + 1 controller at 200$ = 392$ (with out taking in to account power cords.

This can all be replaced with smart strings. 4 smart strings of 100 nodes would be 252$ + 30$ for the control board + 40$ for the unit controls = 322$.

So the coast would actually be less and the amount of control and options you get is allot greater.

I can see allot of people switching the majority of there displays to rgb flood lights and smart stings in the next few years.

I was planning on making some medium size trees that would have lights spiralled around the tree. This would allow me to be a little bit more creative and break things up. Then along comes RJ's video and he did it with Smart Strings so it became a whole new level of tree.

Of course Captkirk said it best

Mega tree.

I was planning my tree for 2012 but, this is too good to wait.

I have been looking at LEDs for other parts of the yard but, until they make LEDs that can burn paint,
I am keeping my C9s on the eves.

I would like to replace my 3 strings of LEDs on my roof top and my 4 strings of LEDs on my gutters with SS.  Then repurpose the LEDs to make new mini trees and get rid of my last major power drain using incans.

My plan is to use them for world domination! (insert crazy man laugh here)     <yk..

Actually, I plan on replacing my 18 foot mega tree and running them along the eves of the house. And will probably do my arches with them as well, utilizing some sort of diffuser with them.
