Right now I am planing a 16 string mega tree. I may cut it down to 14 and use one string for an arch and one string for a star.
If all goes well for next year the following year I would like 3,200 nodes and replace allot of the lights in my display.
Right now I am like 99% incandescent and and am moving allot of the display items to be four colors, white, red, green, color.
Power is becoming and issue, LED's are expensive and controllers are not cheap.
So right now If I wanted to add 4 strings (light count 100) to the display it would be 4 strings * 4 strings of lights per string = 16 light sets * 12$ per set = 192$ + 1 controller at 200$ = 392$ (with out taking in to account power cords.
This can all be replaced with smart strings. 4 smart strings of 100 nodes would be 252$ + 30$ for the control board + 40$ for the unit controls = 322$.
So the coast would actually be less and the amount of control and options you get is allot greater.
I can see allot of people switching the majority of there displays to rgb flood lights and smart stings in the next few years.
