Went Live Last Night - Lone Tree, Colo.
« on: December 05, 2011, »
I've used my 6-channel Mr. Christmas lighting unit for the past few years.  This year I'm using 2 Lynx Expresses (only using 25 channels), the new version of xLights, and an FM transmitter.

Thank you to my dad (PK) for his technical know how and expertise.  And of course thank you to everyone here who has helped us throughout the year to get us both up and running!

Now that we know what we're doing (kind of) we should be able to have a bigger show next year.  Watch out day after Christmas sales!!!

2          Lynx Expresses with wireless
3945     Lights (+/-200)
3          500 light mini trees
2          Storage Box "presents" (I love that these double as storage too!)
1          Modified inflatable Eeyore (now with 50 lights and sturdy PVC skeleton)
1          8-channel door arch
250       (at least) of lamp cord used
??         Vampire plugs
??         Feet of PVC
??         Tie Wraps
??         Broom clips
5          Sequences, thus far
5          Radio imaging bits to play between songs

Hi, my name is Steve, and I'm addicted to Blinky/Flashy.  The Surgeon General should put a warning on this website!

I love the "station identification" breaks. Made me laugh.

Awesome show! How did the wireless work for you?

I'm still trying to get my show up and running with 2 LE (non-wireless) and I've identified some tricky spots running cable. Thinking I may get a couple of wireless for next year.

Thank you very much!  I hope to have better video and audio at some point, but it was too cold to record the whole thing!  Plus, I've added a show close and light animation to the station IDs.

The wireless works really well.  Granted, from the basement computer to where the LE controllers are mounted is maybe a total of 10 feet.  However, my dad (PK) has a total of 4 LE's - including one that controls the lights on the house across the street from his.  The range is very good!  It's definitely worth it in terms of easier set up.

Couldn't have done it without you!  You'll be available to help take it down, right?  LOL.  Actually, the tear down shouldn't be that bad.  It'll be a matter of where to put everything!  Although, if I had smart strings, I could make sequences for every holiday.  LOL.
