Are the PIC chips on all the PCB's the same PIC chip just appropriate firmware for the different equipment?

Where do you order said PIC's?

Some boards use the same but not all. There are parts lists in the wiki for many boards.

If you join a coop, the pic will be part of the kit. If you just want to buy one to play with, I would advise you to go to the micron web site and get a pickit 3 with one of the developer boards.

Usually when I buy parts, its from either mouser.com or digikey.com

Yeah i plan on buying this as soon as i can afford the extra money, prolly after the LE coop is paid for

Some share a common PIC, each will have different firmware.
Refer to the following chart for a list of the PICs which are used.  If you are looking at having extra/spare PICs around, it will give you an idea where the PICs can be leveraged -- or where to steal a PIC from an unassembled kit. :)

A lot of the Lynx equipment use the PIC24FJ32GA002 chip:

How to see what PIC chip that a given product uses, go to the WIKI page (see the link on the upper bar menu for DLA above) and click on the given "Mouser Direct" link for the product you are looking for the PIC chip for.  This will give you the ENTIRE Bill of Materials for all the parts on the Mouser web site, so you will have to scroll around to find the PIC for that particular piece of equipment.

One cavaet is that the Etherdongle has a surface mounted PIC and this particular PIC is pre-soldered for you as part of the COOP.  However, you can still get the PIC chip from Mouser if you are so inclined.

No need to go to the mouser link.

Every Pixelnet/Lynx hardware that uses a PIC is listed on the Equipment page (its normally the last bullet item).
