Ok, I know those slow pokes that did not get they requests in for replacement resistors in are just now getting theirs but I sent out almost 100 people resistors weeks ago. I am trying to see if people are getting these built as mainly all I every see is people posting that did not get theirs working.
This thread is only for people who have their EtherDongle built and the hardware apperes to but working fine. Please do not post otherwise or start a conversation/crack jokes ect in the thread. I am not worried if you just have not got is setup correctly with your software I am only askng for people who have it built, programmed and the green light is on and the lights so traffic when you plug it into a computer, in other words hardware working.
I need to know this stuff because if I do not get enough feedback of people being successful I will not start another coop. It makes no sense to send more out until I know the stuff is not successfully buildable by the members. If you having built it and have issue with the hardware do not post here. Please make a seperate post for assistance.
Other than the wrong resistors that were sent out and then replaced, I am not aware of any issues and I am only aware of one person currently with build issues. I just want to know people are having success before we move ahead.

I ordered one EtherDongle and I had no issues setting it up and using it. It ran my show for the last week the show was running.

I ordered one, it works great. Ran my show with it.
-
1 up and running
-
Got mine built with no problems. Green LED and Ethernet jack LEDs all working. Ran my show for about a week with it. No problems. Using the DMX firmware. I know universe 1 is working. Have not tried universes 2-4.
-
Ordered 2. Built and working with no issues, but I have only tested the first universe. I have been running wirelessly through a wifi bridge setup from my laptop - which means two wireless hops (laptop to router, router to client/bridge).

ordered two - got the kits AND replacemetn resistors. Built both EDs and other than running a bit warm they both function. Struggling now to get some wireless routers to send/rcv the multicast as you did in your video!
-
Ordered 1 and got it up and running to run the show with it for the last three days. No problems, in fact the show seems to run better with it. Fades seem smoother and fast transitions seem to look better.

Ordered 1 got it and the replacement resistor. This was my first attempt at soldering and am new to the rgb world. Got it all soldered up and ordered my pickit3 from mouser on tuesday got it friday. First pickit attempt, it took a few times and a little homework but finally SUCCESS for the first time I'm able to control some of the rgb items I obtained over the summer from David Moore and Harrison Ward.
Thanks RJ for all the work you do

Ran an EtherDongle for my show for the last week it was running. I ran 2 universes of Pixelnet with Xlights. No issues after I got setup and running.
Thanks again RJ!

I did not transmit Multicast, Everyone relax a little and let us get the stuff ready I am afriad lots of people are doing bunches of work when there are easier ways it all works together. think of it as we gave you the engine to a race car to build and you are tring to win the 500 with out the rest of the car. We are only at month .25 so far.

One built and working fine with Vixen.
Thanks RJ.

Got my working with out any problems

Mine works great, Thanks RJ,

I got mine built right after Christmas and swapped out my PixelNet dongle with the EtherDongle and all worked perfectly. In fact, the E1.31 support allowed me to control the display with some new software I was writing that I couldn't seem to the serial code correct. Using the multicast E1.31 packets, it worked like a charm and I could easily control the display from multiple PCs without having the unplug and move any cables! I was driving 810 RGB LEDs (2430 channels) with no issues. Love it!

Built 1 and verified 1 working without issue.
-
Ordered 2. Built them on New year day and the other monday and working with no issues :)

1 of 2 working - very easy to put together

Built mine last night. Struggled with the programming a little as it was my first time but the resources we have here answer all of my questions. After a few more struggles with comms, i got the EtherDongle plugged into my home router and it worked perfectly. Very excited. Thanks RJ.

Completed my Ed about an hour ago. Was able to configure and run a test on one string of SS nodes in my workshop with both Vixen and xlights tester. Worst part was figuring out how to configure xlights.

Built mine during my Christmas vacation, but did not have time to play with it. I put everything together and tested... I'm happy to report that my Etherdongle is working as expected! <wd..
I will build my second etherdongle sometime this week and test it. This is great stuff! <la..

2 of 2 eD now working.... <res.

One completed and working with Vixen!

So does everyone think it is a mature enough item to kick more out of in coops? I have a coop manager ready to do a coop of them for those they did not get any or want another. I need to get everything out as early this year as I can so I can do a show/academy and a few other things with the family I need to do this year.

Got mine to work with out any trouble.
I think that it is defiantly second coop worthy.

RJ
Yes, I think so.
-
Go for it, its ready!
-
Been waiting for the best! ;) Thanks RJ.
-
RJ, I think that building is straight forward and not difficult. I would go ahead with a COOP.
-
let's do it!
-
While I have not used it in a show, I think it is ready to go.
-
Would the coop include the combiner/splitter to be able to use it for dmx or would that have to be separate?
-
Don't see why not mine is working GREAT
-
Mine worked fine on my show. I see no reason not to coop it at this time.
-
I am having a low or no connectivity issue with my ED. I would think it is good for a coop. I will just need to learn why I am getting the error. Kevin

After 3 weeks of health issues (just gotta love doctors, ultrasounds, X-rays, CT Scans, hospitals, surgery etc etc) I finally felt well enough to assemble my ED. All went together OK, programmed OK, Green Light OK, intially no connectivity...... :'(
Had a good look at the SMD chips, removed a couple of solder bridges on the smaller chip, still no connectivity, retouched all the pins on the smaller chip with my smallest soldering iron tip and Thunderbirds are go!!!!! Fired up LSP and it appears to work fine. ;D
Sure a few problems, but nothing that would be a show stopper.
The only other issue is that the included wallwart is a 110VAC unit , not much use to us in sunny Australia where the line voltage is 230/240VAC. Just part of the joys of living in the antipodes...........
Cheers

Ordered 1, recv'd 1. Recv'd the resistors and it was working perfectly during the later part of the show in December.

Hopefully I am not jinxing it but I successfully assembled my eD last night in about an hour and I was not rushing. Even took the time to test all components on a meter. LED and magjak lit up on first try! Getting it to work with my old Dell laptop was another matter. After a bit of perusing, I made a crossover cable, setup a static IP and was 98% done. Then I had a Vixen plugin error. Final 2% was running the updates for vixen 2.1 and making sure profile info was accurate, since I normally run 2.5.08. Although I am moving to LSP, I think some guys would really like a dll for vixen 2.5.
Didn't expect it but my ss fade more smoothly than the usb dongle.
Thank you RJ for another great tool (toy) ;D

I built my e dongle and fired it up yesterday. The light lit. I flashed it with DMX and got the done message. I plugged in the eather net cable in my router and my internet stopped working :-[. But the lights lit on the cable jack. I will try with the light show laptop tonight....2B continued.

Just finished building number 1 (of 2). No problems with the build on the hardware side of it.
I had some software problems getting it to work in Vixen. Firstly I used the firmware and Vixen plugin from the Wiki for PixelNet - no output but magjack flashing away (file names were EtherDongle2.hex & Lynx+EtherDongle.dll). Used the files from this post - http://diylightanimation.com/index.php?topic=5765.0 (http://diylightanimation.com/index.php?topic=5765.0) - (EtherDongle_PixelNet.hex & Lynx EtherDongle.dll) and everything worked as it should. I don't know which one fixed the issue.
I know there were posts about where the current versions were but in my excitement to get it working, that's what I ended up doing. :-[<fp.
In all, an enjoyable build. Thanks. Russell

Built it, plugged it into my router and tested it using Vixen 2.1. No problems with a set of 100 pixel nodes and 120 node flex strip. Thanks for another great interface. Looking forward to getting in the DMX Servo Controller and DMX Tester to try out the DMX side of things.
-
Just assembled the one I got in the 2012 coop. Programmed the PIC with Pixelnet firmware. and it works fine in the brief test I did. Connected to a SS Active Hub and it the attached smart string responded correctly. No problems.

I got mine up and running yesterday. Flashed it with the pixelnect firmware and was able to get the DMX working (thanks MICPAT for the instructions). Should have some nodes in the next couple of weeks to try out. Really looking forward to the conductor, I found an enclosure that everything will fit in so I can move all of my gear out near the show. >.d9
