Reminder: Maps
« on: January 08, 2013, »
With a lot of new members in the DLA community, it seems like this might be a good time to remind people about the available maps that show locations of DLA members.
There is one map that shows general membership, and another that shows locations of people with PICkits that are available to help with loading firmware into newly built kits.
The maps are completly opt-in.  You can add, remove, update your listing at any time.
They are helpful not only to locate members with a PICkit, but also to find someone nearby that can answer questions, discuss ideas, or help with troubleshooting.  During the lighting seasons, you can find others with exciting holiday displays.
The thread that discussed the maps can be found here:

If you need help updating the map, feel free to ask.  There are several people who are glad to help.

I think you may need to have a Google user id as a first step.
Once you log into Google, select the link for the map to view it.
ie: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
Then, in the text box enter your address and select the link to "You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login".  Choose the map.  I believe visiting the map may add it to the list of maps you can work with.
From the page there is a "interactive tutorial" link that will help you through map creation/edits.
