Question about the pickit

with all the boards having the plugin for the pickit on the board, so i need all the extra boards in that jsys kit?

i believe, the MR-16, SSR4, Freestyle, and the USB Dongle need some form of adapter board. (but I'm sure there will be posts about how to work around it)

If you're not really planning on those devices, then you don't need them.

I believe you would only need one adapter board for the boards that do not have the ICSP pins for the PicKit. Here is the list from the Wiki.

As Chris stated if you are not going to have any of the equipment he listed (no ICSP header) then the programmer you are looking at should do the job.

If you are new to this then you probably are not going to be using any of the older equipment.
