New Music
« on: April 15, 2011, »
Hey guys,
I wanted to ask toy guys what new songs you guys are going rotfl have in your shows. I am moving my display to a more public location, and I wanted to add some really good songs this year, but I feel like all the songs I like have been done last year and I would like to have a good song that not everyone has seen or heard before. So any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Jesse

Train-Shake up the Happiness

I am working on this song now and have not seen it used in any videos.
The little lights aren't twinkling Clark

A while back, I used Wilson Pickett's version of Jingle Bells.  I loved it, it is a great song, it was fun to sequence, and everyone really liked the song.   Last month I found out that he also did a version of Silver Bells.  It is just as Motownsy (not sure if that is a word or not) as his Jingle Bells.  So I bought it and plan to sequence to it this year.

Me personally, I would use the newer techno with the older bing Crosby. Its both the young and old that like the shows.
Its the most wonderful time of the year.

My neighborhood has evolved from a retirement community to a younger crowd with a  harder taste in music, so last year I tried jingle bell rock...with an edge. It was a big hit. There are other metal band remakes of popular tunes...I remember hearing a spoof on Iron Man that would be fun too.

Wow, some very interesting songs. I like the medal version of Jingle Bell Rock, but my show is at a church, and I don't know if that would be the best song for a church.

Depends on the church I guess. I've been to a few progressive ones over the years that practically had a mosh pit in front of the pulpit ;D,  but  yes, those are definitely the exception.

I'm adding this one too...it's a bit warmer and has a lot of dynamics to queue the lights to. "To make a miracle" by Michael McDonald

Look for a Barbershop group called Straight No Chaser.  Upbeat and fun.  They sing a great Carol of the Bells.  I use the Christmas Can Can and the 12 Days of Christmas.  here is a link to their stuff and their actual site.

Oh, yeah. I have known about Straight No Chaser for a long time. My first song I sequenced for my show last year was the Christmas Can Can by them.
