I'm a cable tie guy myself.

The problem with braiding them is when one needs to be replaced. I know many people use so called super strings but I have never done and never thought it would look any better by doing it. Use google and earch for how to make super strings and you may find a lot more info.

I don't braid them as it would be a super pain to replace broken strands.
When I create my bundles I set up two heavy saw horses and attach some trigger grip clamps to them that have a long metal slider on them. The slider sticks up in the air like a pole. I then spread them apart according to the distance of the strands I'm working at. Get the strings laid out and then go about zipping them together with a bunch of zip ties..

4" zip ties -- well worth doing IMHO, ESP on bigger display items. ... Has not been a maintenance issue at all.
