Pre-show Music
« on: November 24, 2012, »
So I have heard that some people play music before and after their show from some type of radio station via the internet. Can anyone provide me with some insight on that and how you have it turn on before the show and after the show.

A lot of people use Zara Radio (software that let's you run a radio station) here is a link to LOR's forum with some info on Zara Radio:

Zara user here.  Love it.

My transmitter is on a timer so after the show it turns off.  Come morning it turns on again. Zara is setup with two events. Start play of music and what not in the morning. Then 30 seconds before the show the event kicks in to stop playing music in time for the show.

Zara was the best find for me. And the price is right.  I have people tune in when they drive by in the day time.  :)

I run Zara with Christmas music and voice overs by the Demented Elf when the show is not running.  The LOR schedulers stops the music, starts the show, stops the show and starts the music at the end all automated.

Best Christmas music station in my area and almost commercial free.

Yes, that is what it was meant for!  :)   Basically you are setting up a small radio station on your computer, you put in a list of songs you want played (in the order you want them played) and you can have weather reports, time calls and station identification all automated in fact you can have a tone file play and zara will stop and free the audio line for something else (it our case it would be our show)   As Jerry said you can find Zara, Weather Watcher and a bunch of Voice files the Demented Elf did for weather and time.

Here is a good link on Zara Radio. I found this after I typed up some stuff.  This link talks about everything you need.  For starting and stopping via LOR I don't use the DTMF tones as I could not make them work.  I setup two simple programs to do this and I'm willing to share them.  They have been rock solid and I'm very happy with them.

Once you have Zara Setup let me know and I'll send you my programs.

I don't broadcast humidity so you can do this if you want.

Hopefully this version of weather watcher matches mine

Note: Do not "update" the software to a newer version.  It will only cause you problems as these are the only "Free" versions that work and they work well so there is no need to update them.

My conductor is a 3GHZ PC so I have no idea.  :)  If a windows PC can control it, then maybe.

You will need to create a play list.  I don't remember how to do this so my best recommendation is to look under "Playlist" in the manual at the link below.

What you want to do I do in LOR but beings you have a conductor I have no idea how to make it stop/start when you want it to.
