Strange result with my mouser order
« on: April 03, 2012, »
Over the last 2 months, I have been ordering parts for 11 lynx express, 5 wireless RX boards, and some other projects "snubber resistors for lor equipment"

Monday I received my latest order, upon inspection I found a big discrepancy.

Part of my order
176         660-CF1/2CT52R473J          47 KOhms 500 mWatts (1/2 Watt)          "lynx express snubber resistors"

Another Part "A phone in addition"

96 more of the above           "snubber resistors for lor equipment"

That should have been 272 resistors at $.32 ea   $87.04 Total      :-\Must be special?

That is what was on the paper work in the box.

What did I find in the box  :o

A sealed, unopened, full reel, 4000 of them $.32 !@%$#^$# resistors <md.. And what was that total on this order <md..

After rechecking my totals I paid for 272 :-X

Better make sure.

Checked my email, and there it was, A new invoice with 4000 of them resistors <fp. And what was this total ???

;D $7.04 less than what was printed in the box   8)

I wanted to know for sure, A call to Mouser confirmed I paid for 4000 @ $.02 Ea or $80.00 for 4000 8)

<res.Mouser Someone there must have thought I would like to save that extra $7.04.

<rtt.. What to do with the extra 3728 resistors ???

<fp. I wanted spaire parts,    But come on now  <fp.
Have Fun!

At $.02 Ea and 16 on each le. Now I am no expert, but the stamp would cost more than the parts. And with 233 stamps I would be broke. Not to mention the post office might not like it.

If I can make it to the Academy, I have a gift for you!!

I always tweak my orders a bit to knock down the price. I have never ordered 4000 of anything from mouser.

When I saw that 4000 reel, I just remembered .32 ea times 4000 $1280.00 Oh What did I do now!!

Have fun

Build 160 more wireless LE's  ;D

I would seriously consider donating most of them to the next LE coop manager...

Definitely get them to the next coop mgr.

On a side not I order LE stuff and was shorted 2 resistors.  I emailed them and they sent a box with 2 resistors in it.  Kind of overkill. :o  I was expecting an envelope or something.  I guess that's all they had.

Seriously, the next LE COOP can use the $ 4.80 per LE price break and pass on another 133 resistor kits for 43.00 not inculding shipping to the following coop etc etc.

if we have to pay .32 per unit * 16 units = $5.12 vice  0.32.  sorry don't see the problem.

the coop manager would run into the same situation...   and get a reel also...     1600 resisters for $512?  or 4000 of them for $80?

Yeah, I figured it probably wasn't a one time thing but $4.80 is always a good savings.

The last coop I ran we paid $0.018 per for them so 16 cost you $0.29 for all of them in your kit.

the parts are about $44 - $45 so think about it, one set of resistors would drop it by 15%, your thinking if we bought them on the coops in small qty. So if you give me the resistors for the next coop the shipping to get them to me would cost more than the parts do to order from mouser.

Now of you got the Traics for free it would help!

See what I am saying. It sounded good just would not work out.

I am going to agree with RJ and the coop managers.

I like to adjust my orders to mouser to take advantage of what price breaks I can get.
I wanted 23 pic chips, each price at 23 is $2.68. That's $61.64
I ordered 25, Each price now $2.46. That's $61.50.
Not a big savings, But I just got 2 spares for free.

I had a large order, with a lot of this going on. I think someone at Mouser saw this and changed my order to 4000 resistors. Not sure I would have checked this one out. The added price of shipping these spares was less than the $7.04 saving. They still show 17000+ on hand.
 Good job Mouser.

Definitely get them to the next coop mgr.

Shipping these to a coop manager would take a large box adding additional shipping cost, and unnecessary risk of loss and confusion.
<res.Best to let coop managers handle all aspects of their coop.

Just a suprise seeing that big reel of resistors.

Now if you got the Triacs for free it would help!

I did order 250 in an earlyer order, After a season of random triac problems, "Why not" Its only 74 extras for $33.62, and I planed on ordering 32 extras anyway.

Have fun
