Title: PIC differences from MR16 to SSR4 -I/P vs. -E/P suffix
Post by: mschell on September 14, 2009,
Here's a curious question that I wasn't able to easily figure out.

What's the difference between the PIC 18F1220-I/P that's used for the SSR4 w/DMX option and the PIC18F1220-E/P that's used in the MR16 controller?

I'm ordering parts for both the MR16 and SSR4, and just noticed the difference in my combined BOM on Mouser.

Well, they have the same data sheet on Mouser.  The only difference that I can see is that the E/P has a 125c max operating temp and the I/P only has an 85c max operating temp.

I'm sure that RJ will answer it for sure later though.

Oh, and like 27 cents more for the E/P.

Either should work. I think when we did the MR16 project they were out of the I/P version. Only difference is just what rocky said. The temps they are rated at.

Cool.  Now I can order parts tonight.   Thanks for the quick info!

What about the 18LF1220-I/P- will that work in place of the 18F1220-I/P?  I just got three from Microchip...
