Is it possible to program with a universal programmer ?
Also, anybody using the Lynx products in the Bradenton or Sarasota, FL area?
Brg,

What is a universal programmer? And are you talking about programming (flashing) a chip, programming the hardware start address or programming a sequence?

Sorry, I should have been clearer on my question. I have a universal programmer for PIC/Eprom/AVR, that I use for programming Eproms. I keep reading you have to use a specific programmer for the PICs. My programmer does Pic18** chips.

We are not doing anything special with the PIC configuration. The reason we seem to be specific is because the Pickit-2 doesn't work with the newer chips but is easier to use on the older ones than the Pickit-3. We also suggest that people use the programming software instead of MPLab to prevent them from making unexpected register changes and bricking the PIC. All we are doing is loading HEX firmware and if your universal programmer can do that with the chips we are using, go for it.
