I am in the process of assembling my first LE. The assembly guide indicates that the 120 ohm resistor is brown-red-brown-black. The only resistor left I have that came in the package is brown-black-black-red- brown (I think, I need better glasses!). I check the value with a multimeter and it is fine at 120 ohms. I am just curious about the difference, if there is any.

Colors don't make sense to me. I always use my ohm meter to verify first and I think there is only one so you should be good given you measured it. The stripes are hard to see on some of them. Here is a calculator if it helps.

By the way is the resistor blue? I think there is only one.

Thanks for the links, good stuff to have! The colors are not easy to see (not enough light either!). The resistor is blue, that is the only one this way. The resistor will be on the board in a minute!

Try reading it from the other end. That's a 1% 120R resistor. When in doubt, I always use a meter since the color of the resistor body can make the band colors look wrong (try telling blue and green apart on those green resistors, for example).

Certainly help when you read the strips in the right direction! A meter is perfect to check all those resistors. I got mine for free when I bought soldering station!

Yes, the 120 ohm is typically blue body from mouser part list.
When in doubt use the meter never hurts to check.

That's right Mike, mines were blue and I used a meter to check all resistors. It is a good advice and with the colors not easy to identify, you may not have another choice!
