MTS to WMV or AVI
« on: December 21, 2009, »
OK so I have downloaded a few converters, paid for a couple and still no go on good Video conversion.

VOltiacHD Not so good, only good for real short videos.

SO what are others using to convert the MTS files from Camcorders to something that is more common to everybody.

Try Adobe Premiere Pro. I think they have a trial version you can check out.

I have a Jvc camcorder that creates a file witha TOD extension.  The only way I can start using it is to use the software that comes with the camcorder to read it and save it as an mpg file.  The camera is very good and I bought it a good price, but knowing what I know now, I would be looking for camera that creates standard mpg or avi file right from the get go.

I did find one that worked fianlly after dumping the other one,  it is called AISEESOFT Convertor.  A low CPU and install footprint, and a no nonsense conversion setup.

It works well on all kinds of video formats.

Be sure to double check the conversion after for sync issues. I've found that some of the cheaper/freebie converters or using lower power computers can end up with a useless video in the end. I converted one of mine and the audio and video were out of sync by as much as 10-15 seconds!
