xLights Launcher
« on: November 30, 2010, »
I just downloaded and checked out xLights 0.2, I really like where this program is going, with its emphasis on interfacing with the hardware and doing it well.

I am currently running a Ledtriks with a Triks-C doing most of the work.  Vixen has a launcher output plugin that is used to run the program (ltc.exe) that interfaces with the Triks-C.  Based on a given intensity in the Vixen sequence, the launcher fires the specified program.  Is there any way to do something like this in xLights or is a feature that will need to come in due time?

Glad you like it. But yeah, that's a feature we'd have to add next year. Keep those ideas coming!

I was just sitting here thinking about it, and it wouldn't necessarily have to be a launcher plugin like Vixen has, where a given channel intensity launches a program, but it could be a script command so that within your program script you could launch external programs.

As noted in the 2011e announcement, there is now an "EXEC" scripting command that can run at start of your sequence. However, it would be difficult to make it run at an arbitrary point in the middle of a sequence.
