MR 16 wiring and use with Kingbright 3 watt tricolor LED's

(1/5) > >>

tpctech:
I have purchased some Kingbright 3 watt tricolor LED to make a LED flood fixture.  I have made a very simple bracket to mount 3 in a standard 1-gang aluminum weatherproof box.   Using a piece of fluorescent fixture defuser and a stainless cover plate with gasket from Lowes.   They work very well on 12v with a 25 ohm 10 watt current limiting resistor per color.   These are common anode (+)  LED's.  It appears that the MR16 board switches the - side which should make them work well.  I have not tried DMX dimming yet as I need to purchase a MR16 board.  They do dim pretty well on my variable bench supply.

See attached spec sheet on the LED's and pictures of my "light"  I am planning on making a mounting yoke to allow simple mounting and aimability.

What do you guys think?

The LED's are about $5.00 each

Any MR16 boards around.

Thanks

Wow nice work Ken!

Would be interesting to see how they project on a wall.

More pictures with a poor point and shoot!

MrChristmas2000:
Even more interessting is how they compare directly with an MR16 lamp at night.
