I don't mind them being blown in the wind. Even if they are blown horizontal by the wind. But when the wind stops they must still be facing the same direction towards the street.

Good ideas so far.

one more idea for now :)

Connect two strings of fishing line to each side of the tube and secure the other end of the lines to a stake(s) behind the tubes

For my store-bought snow tubes, the direction of the heavy-duty wire passing from one to the next is sufficient to keep them all facing forward.
you should be able to create a hanger -- or heavy-enough wire to easily accomplish the same.

Those look great.  cant wait to see them live.

Why not jut string some para-cord from one bottom cap to the next bottom cap.  If they are all going to be in a row.  That will also allow them to move together when the wind blows instead of moving each one a different direction.

They will be all scattered on different branches.

I think Steve's idea is a good one. Coat hanger wire or thicker attached at 2 places on the branch and through a simple eyelet screw that is screwed in and sealed with silicone to the top of the tube might work. Although there may be simpler executions of the idea.

Looks great good job.Is there some thing on the bottom of them if so can you drill a hole in it and tie or stake it to the ground in two places to keep it from moving .

I could glue on female/male threaded adapter and screw on a 1" cap like the top of the one without the controller.

Hi;

i plan on making 50 to 75 of these. I will use a shorter tube, more like 15" long. I plan on putting an eye hook into the top pvc pipe to tie onto the branches of my tree.

I will also put an end cap on the bottom with some lead rope. I still have 20' of 3/8" lead rope that i used when my sons were doing pinewood derby (They finished 1st,2nd in their pack and 1st,2nd in their district finals). Now they are scouts, the lead is available to use.

I plan on drilling a drain hole in the bottom for any condensation.

the twine going thru the eye hook and tied to the branch should orient, even if blown.

I also plan on implementing a target generator for these tubes where i can locate them in 3d space. I plan on taking pictures of them from two directions and identify where the tubes are in x,y,z space.

Besides the falling snow effects, i would like to make a wave the starts on the left of the tree and washes over the tree to the right. In order to do effects, i need to know where they are located.

this will be a summer project for me. i always like a challenge.
