first express
« on: June 08, 2011, »
Well I welded up my first express and it appears to be working. I don't have a dongle yet but I plugged it in and the lights came on and the display cycled stopping on "01". One down five more to go.....

Way to go!!
Did you get the blinky tingle?
I get the tingle every time I finish one of RJ's creations.

Congratulations on getting it assembled.  You will have a good feeling when you have it attached to a dongle and watch the sofware control the Lynx Express.  I have 4 done and 8 more waiting to be soldered.  Thanks to RJ and the other members who have worked on the assembly documentation and instructions.

if you setup lights on an express, would they be controlled by running the on board test?   if it works, might be a good test, for not having a dongle yet.

Yes any time the led is on the output is active unless you have a hardware issue.

Finished the second express today, self test went off with out a hitch. I Built this one for a friend who wants blinky but really cant afford to buy any equipment. I am gonna get him started with a 16 channel  display for this year, and depending on how the smart strings work out for me, I may be moving away from the 16 channel controllers.

Congrats.  I already have my neighbor asking me to use two of my LEs to add his house to the show.  It is a great feeling to get them done isn't it?  Again kudos to Team Jordan for a intuitively simple design.

Sweet!  I should see about getting my neighbor to my right hooked.  He just retired a few days ago.  I'm sure he'll need something to occupy that time ;)  Unfortunately my neighbors to the left had major medical changes in their lives and now are both in assisted living.  Hoping for their remaining time to be painless and hoping the new neighbors will be a fraction of how awesome my old ones were!
