I'm new at this whole SS stuff so what is the difference between the SSv2 and SSv3. I want to run a half mega tree with 16 strands of SS nodes 75ct. Will the SSv2 work?

The v3 is just the newest version of the SSC controller.  The differences between the two are just a higher ohm resistor, cutting a trace on the board, a jumper wire and of course the firmware.  It is a very simple upgrade from a v2 to a v3.
