Using one 100ct CDI RED LED and one 100ct CDI Green LED per 6' X 4' section.

Do the colors look close in brightness to the eye in the real world?

Well with all four strings on, it lights up the front of the house.
These LED's are bright.

Just made two in order to try out some different layouts.  Now that we know the direction that we want to go, I'll do a build video when we start to build the rest of them.

Sounds like an intriguing project.  I've got some LED railing light nets that are failing rapidly, maybe a DIY replacement is in order.  Look forward to your video.
