Title: Zeus pic programming
Post by: PIC on March 31, 2014,
I was successful with flashing the etherdongle pic.
However, I am having issues with the Zeus pics.
Followed the beginner pic programming with the pickit3.
Made it to step 8.  Turned on power target circuit of 3.3 v.  But get error.
Is this a 3.3v pic or 5v?  I have a pic kit 3 and a pickit2 starter kit.
I am using the pickit3 with the adapter from the starter kit.  Any ideas on what try next?  Plan to try the sscv4 pics tomorrow to see if I get same error

Did you select the correct PIC family.  Unlike the Picket-2, the Pickit-3 cannot self identify PIC families.

Yes, confirmed I selected 24F04KA200.
Ran PicKit3 App.  It found PicKit3.
Connected it to the PicKit2 Starter board. (I have pic but unsure how to attach)
Target Power On set at 3.3V
Imported Zeus hex.  Got checksum of 0020.
Hit write.
It then says "No Device Selected"

sounds like something with your adaptor isn't right. I bought a bread board from radio shack and made my own jumpers. I've not used the pickit adaptor. I always do an erase of the chip and then blank check. if that step doesn't work, no need to import hex. back track your connections, make sure your #1 pin is in the correct slot on the adaptor, get in the wiki and check the diagram.

Did you put the jumpers on the adapter per the info in the wiki?

Once again...Thanks for all the advice.   Great forum.  Great support from group.
Solved...Used a SSC v4 board to program the zeus chip.  You guys were right had something to do with the jumpers... I will investigate more so I can program with the correct board.  But for now the SSCv4 board worked great.
Last item is Active Hub Pic and need to get the lights in to verify all works.

The active hub PIC is only used to create a DMX universe from the PixelNet universe so unless you are connecting DMX controllers to the DMX output of the hub, there is no need to program it yet.

Thanks...Did not know that.  I do plan to try out DMX off the Active Hub...But that will be out there in the future.  Thanks for the feedback

I have been looking all over and trying to find where or when I can buy a Zeus or two. Sorry for putting this question here where everyone already has them.

There is an update to the Zues that adds some new capabilities being tested that we will likely run a coop of as soon as it is ready.

Thanks for the updates.  I seem to always run late in looking back on this site for Coop's .  Thanks again for the info.

Dan,

Go to the current co-op section and click notify, then when a new co-op is started, you will get an email letting you know,

RJ, are you thinking a coop for the new Zeus could potentially happen in the next month possibly ?

I'm one of the testers and haven't found any problems.  I will post a video and some test documentation later tonight.
