show deadline?
« on: December 19, 2013, »
is there a date that if you don't have your show up by then, then you say forget it?

if so, when is it?

Thinking outloud....this is my first year and I had the show running (2 songs) on my target date, Dec 1st. Mind you I was setting up in September for Halloween test run....In my city the mayor does a tour of the city on a convoy of buses that happens the Wednesday after the Christmas tree lighting (which is the first Friday of the month). So, my goal moving forward will be to hit that date. If I miss it because of illness, work, otherwise, I hope that I could still put on some sort of show at least the weekend before Christmas. I would say that would be the date I pack it in if I wasn't running. That said....really...if I'm not near up and running by mid November the weather turns nasty here and I wouldn't be able to do half of what I have done so my date becomes that 2nd week of November. after that safety starts to factor in going up on roofs in slippery conditions.

Shouldn't be a deadline unless you don't want to do it.  People will love it even for a few days.  That being said, try and have it running by Christmas and run it to New Year's.  That would be a solid week.

Good luck.

Depends on the date my wife sets

In my case, I had a 'little' (5 lbs, 5 ozs, 18 inches) influence on my date (11AM today) as well for my first year's attempt at a show.  ;D   And this is why I'm not bummed out about having virtually no sequencing done and 90% of the mega tree in the garage instead of the yard.

So, do I win the award for the best excuse for not being done? :)  Or at least the cutest one?

It's easy to forget, but it is after all a CHRISTMAS display and there are 12 days of Christmas. I am sure your family and neighbors would LOVE to see it no matter when you get it going.
