Vandalism
« on: December 04, 2011, »
Well, lights haven't been up long at all and I already have vandalism. The cord to my lead horse was cut.

That is true. And there is one particular person in my homeowner's association that particularly fits the bill. I'm not sure it's him, but he's the only person that I know of that has a history of physically damaging other's property.

Make sure you get one of those outside cameras to point at your stuff. If it's happened, it might just happen again.

I have two that work in both light and dark, however, they are at the front of the house and this happened on the side. I will review the video, but somehow I'm doubtful. I actually have additional cameras to add to the system, which I will be doing very soon.

I'm nervous as well, but making sure that the lynx hardware is either directly in view of the cameras or you have to go through the camera's field of view to get to/from the hardware.
I'm adding the two cameras tomorrow, and they are on bases that can be remotely adjusted.

Tree Rats with fluffy tails are never welcome in my yard.  Sure they look cute, but they are destructive little creatures and during the fall I thin them out.  It's always a good idea to keep those destructive rodents in control or they will chew your house and all your belognings to the ground.

I had one of cords chewed through this year.
Not sure if it was a rabbit or a cat.

The cord appears to have been cut in this case, not chewed. There are no additional marks on either wire. The copper is pressed against one side of the insulation, and all of the copper strands are bent in that direction. It appears as if a sharp knife was placed under the line and pulled upwards.

this could be caused by a rabit or squirrel as they have buck teeththey make for good wire cutters.

Thanks, I didn't know that. I'd feel much better if it was an animal because then it wouldn't be malicious.

But you still don't know the squirrel's intent.
