Thank you all for my first ever blinky
« on: October 31, 2012, »
We had our very first ever animated light show this halloween. I personally would like to thank you all for everything you have taught me and also to those that have stepped in and helped with selling me some of your spare equipment. I learned a lot for just having 48 channels and am looking forward to Christmas.

My family have always been into Halloween and our neighbors (new and old) come to see our house every year. Even this year with it being -10 Celsius (17 F I believe) and blowing snow we had a great turnout and people just shaking their heads and standing in the driveway having some hot chocolate saying that they cannot believe we topped last year.

I took a video while it was still light out and then after when it was dark, but the dark one looks really grainy so I will now try and learn how to post videos to the internet.

Once again I personally cannot thank you enough and I was very proud in telling people that I belonged to DLA.

Thanks Rick, -10 is not that bad.
It is the coldest it's been on Halloween for a few years, but we still had about 175 kids.
I am trying Vimeo out and hopefully will have the video up for tomorrow.

Hi Steve,

Great job on the lights and video.

Love your singing pumpkin

I need to make one

Videoing lights is most an art form. You need to record at the exact moment which is tricky depending on the sun going down and the type of camera you are using how bright your lights and and street lights, etc. A quick way to estimate when to shoot is to put on sun glasses and when the non-lit items start to get hard to see. Start recording, wait 5 mins and try again. Once you find "your" time to record then you have a good idea when you should record.

Thanks for the tip Rick. I will try this for the christmas show, but usually in December it starts getting dark around 5pm so hopefully I can get it as soon as I get home.
