If I use multiple active hubs, to output more dmx universes, is there any way to tell how much power the hub requires, so I can plan on how I'm powering them. I understand it uses little power, as compared to when you add smart strings to them.

I thinking of using a power supply that outputs 12v dc and 2VA. Would this be enough power? Can I run more than one from this power supply?

It would be pushing to run one of them.

so if 2VA would be pushing it, then being around 5 or 10, should be a safe bet? (once again, not pushing smart strings on the hub in this case.)

rough ball park is 2 VA = 2 volt amps so 2VA / 12v = 166 ma but it does not work out exact so you only have maybe 100ma to be safe. You might get away with one hub nothing hooked up but your led is using 20ma. Then you have a number of very hunger RS485 chips that pull current and a load resistor that will eat that for lunch. So only chance would be to remove the load resistor and then maybe ????
