Got a usb lynx dongle. Both lights on green and red!
Got 1 LE 3.3v light on, 5v light on data link light on
Using vixen got output plugin "Enttec DMX USB PRO"set for Com 5 | baud rate at 115200 | data bits 8 | parity 8 | stop bits 1
Running my sequence through vixen with the output plugin setup though my profile. But nothing happens no lights come on and off???
What am i missing/ forgetting???
-
by the way ran the test sequence on the le. works fine
-
what about the terminal jumper? is it on?
-
Yes terminate jumper is on and the wireless off jumper is on
-
was the USB dongle flashed for DMX or pixelnet?
-
Go back into Vixen profile manager, view your plugins and make sure that the Entec check box is still checked. Many time after editing the com port, the box becomes unchecked. If that doesn't work, cut Vixen out of the picture for a minute and download the DMX deck from the wiki to see if it will make some channels come on through the dongle.
If that doesn't work, the dongle may be suspect. Reflash it for DMX

LE set to the right start channel?
-
Dongle was flashed for dmx and le set to channel 1. I will try dmx deck and c what i come up with.
-
no response from dmx deck?? Dongle issue??? or le issue??? or setting on computer issue???
-
if you unplug the cable from the dongle to the express, does the dmx light go out?
-
the light on the express goes out but not on the dongle
-
That is what it's supposed to do. Do you have the correct driver installed for the Dongle. If you pluggged it into the PC before installing the correct driver, Windows will install one that doesn't work properly and this is one of the symptoms of that.

earlier before i was even this close i swapeed out the usb board on the dongle for another one to get me to this point. the correct driver is installed on the computer, the correct firmware is on the pic (I just put a brand new and programmed pic on the dongle) Now green light on dongle is off and when i try and play a sequence in vixen it locks the program up! Im lost! i guess in the mornin ill put the old pic back on and try again. Ive even tried changing comports and it still frezzes and no green light on now? idfk <md..

Check the "new" PIC and make sure that it is seated properly in the socket and that one or more of the pins didn't fold underneith. The green light being lit and the program not locking up shows that the dongle was sorta working. The lack of the green light and the program locking up shows that it isn't working now.

By swapping out the usb board on the dongle, your computer would have assigned a new com port to the dongle. Your profile in Vixen might need to be updated for the new board.
My advice. take a break from it all for a bit. Then take a look at your solder connections on the back of your board before you do anything else and touch up any connections that need it. Then look at the top side of your board and ensure that your components are oriented correctly as per the Wiki.
We can help you through this.
