Title: Tutorial Tonight: Papagayo and Nutcracker
Post by: smeighan on March 20, 2014,
It has been a while.

Tonights tutorial is for any of you who plan on having singing faces this year. I have written a parse for Papagayo and it will produce 3 outputs
1) a fully rendered movie (mpg or mp4) of your faces. this movice can be used for whole house projection
2) a nutcracker sequence where the images of the faces are shown on your matrix
3) a nutcracker sequence where it activates 5 models, one for each mouth shape. this 3rd method works for the traditional coro faces.

If you are not going to use singing faces, please do not call in. We have just 20 lines and they fill up.
I will be recording the session.

One other item: I will be on vacation to Puerto Vallarta from Mar 22-30th next week. So no tutorial on March 27th.

When: Thursday,Mar 20th. 7pm MST, 9pm EST

We will be using teamviewer. Ill start session at 6:45pm MST

Just had a chance to see your Papagayo video, Had a thought on the 3rd output method

How about using a custom model where each phoneme has a list of output channels it will use?
AI= CHANNELS 1,3
E= CHANNELS 1,3
ETC= CHANNELS 1,2
FV= CHANNELS 1,2
L= CHANNELS 1,4
MBP= CHANNELS 1,4
O= CHANNELS 5
rest= CHANNELS 2
U= CHANNELS 5
WQ= CHANNELS 5

This way each phoneme can be customized for the face, I think this is the way the "papagayo to lor" works.

Its about time papagayo gets a revisit, Looking forward to the improvements.
Thanks

I have thought of this. You would need 10 models for each voice, so if a 4 voice song needs 40 models, the grid will get complicated with 40 columns. i am trying to come up with a way where each voice only takes one column.

still researching it

When you rotate to a left to right grid, perhaps actual faces in the box, or an animated gif to show the motion of the face.  It could slide across the timing area as it forms the word and shows where and what it does.

That's a way out idea, but sometimes they spring other ideas instead.
