User Gifs

I know that Sean covered this on the 13th, but I can't remember how to pull a gif from another user account.

Okay here goes (Sean, get well, don't worry, I think I can answer this!):

Step 1: Go to gallery and find the GIF there that you want to download

Step 2: Click on the GIF image to open up the file in your browser.  Note that many of the GIF images have not made it to nutcracker123.com yet, so you may get a 404 (file not found) error.  Alternately, you can go under Admin and browse the general image library there, find an image, and continue with Step 3.

Step 3: Left click and do a save as on the image. (remember where you save it locally like C:\downloads\<filename>.gif)

Step 4: Open up either your local or the nutcracker123.com site

Step 5: Go to effects and select your target (model) and select Gif (or Picture if you are doing a static picture).

Step 6: Click on the "If you want to add images to your gif library, go here: Add gif to your library" Link right above the table where you input values

Step 7: Browse to where you saved your gif (aka C:\downloads\<filename>.gif) in the file selection form and select your file

Step 8: Click <Upload File> button.  Now the file is ready to be used as an effect.

Step 9: Go back to the Effects Tab.  You should now see the image in your 'library'.  Fill out the parameters for the effect and submit (make sure to type the image name EXACTLY as it appears in the library.  It is case sensitive and precise.)


[I added new code to do this today.  So this wasn't something you could do from the gallery prior to today.  This is updated on nutcracker123.com.  If you are running locally, pull new code from github.com]

Hi Kurt,

Thanks, but I cannot even see the gif that I want. For example "Freebird" has a Grinch effect that I would like to use and I cannot see his gif. Sean showed us the steps on the 13th that explained how to get that gif and I cannot remember those steps. You actually posted the user ids into the gallery to make it easier for us. Make any sense?

Yep.

All user gifs and pictures are located under /nutcracker/effects/gifs/<memberid>/<name of gif file>.gif

You can see some generic images via the Admin tab

or you can simply modify this URL with the correct member id:

This one is defaulted to the username 'f' which is member_id=2

Mine is member_id=142 so this URL will find all my images:

Just change the member_id= to what member you want to find the image for.

[Note:  I accidently removed code for member_id on gallery.  Once my wife is done checking her emails on my computer, I will get back on and fix this.  Sorry for the trouble, but it should be corrected within the hour! ]  Fixed now

Added a link on member_id that automatically calls that function for you in gallery in a new window when you click it.

i started the transfer. it takes about 6 hours to finish, we are about 4 to 5 hours finsihed.

give it another hour or so and all gifs will be over on nutcracker123

All gifs  have been transferred. now copying over the pictures library

i made a short tutorial to show how to get gifs copied from another user.

one shortcut,since kurt put the link on the meber_id, just click that and you will see that users animated gifs and their picture library/



i will also copy ove rth dec13 tutorial. It is 850nbytes (2hr 15m), so it will take a little while to get copied

When I go to the Gallery on nutcracker123, I don't see any effects/pics of any kind.
