LED 2/ZC does not stay on
« on: August 28, 2011, »
after the self test I notice that the LED 2 /ZC does not light up.  I have five other boards that stay on.  Any help would be appreciated

Does the led display show 60hz or 50 hz at start up?

If 50hz and you are in the US then you need to check the h11a1 chip in the lower left of the pcb and the the three resistors to make sure all is well in that area.  Look for solder joints missed ect. be careful that you do not have power when doing so as high voltage is present on these parts.

Check that the 6 pin chip is in the correct direction and seated well. That the everything is solder well on it and the three resistors close to it.

Be sure all the pins of the processor and opto are in their respective sockets.  Sometimes a device pin gets bent during insertion into tight "V" shape and does not make a good connection.

It was the h11a1 chip in backwards.  I had to put my glasses on to see that small groove.  Flipped it around and now all works great.  I can't thank you enough.  This group is the best.
