In Vixen 2.x ... how do you organize your complex items?
for example, with a mega tree, i have...
SSMegaTreeString01Node01
SSMegaTreeString01Node01
SSMegaTreeString01Node01
SSMegaTreeString01Node02
SSMegaTreeString01Node02
etc......
how do you guys do it?
(the 3 Node1 have their channel color set)

It needs to be descriptive, but the shorter the better.
My DMX labels are all of the form UxCy Arch a-b or UxCy Mini tree 1 red where x = unit number, y = channel numbe, a = element number if more than 1 and b = segment # when more than 1.
For SS
I started wth Rick's Sequence builder tool. My labels look like "SSCx Roof Left Node_yyz" where x is the SSC # I have assigned and labeled on my pipe. yy=the channel # and z=the color R G or B. If it is a hybrid channel there is no z attribute. I would have left the word Node out, but it works fine.

The UxCy part is a little confusing, can you show a couple examples of your element names.

controller 2 which for me would be channels 17-32
The C number refers to the outlet number on controller.
31 U2C15 spare
32 U2C16 spare
controller 3 which for me would be channels 33-48
33 U3C1 Mini Tree 1 Clear minis
34 U3C2 Mini Tree 1 Red minis
35 U3C3 Mini Tree 1 Green minis
36 U3C4 Mini Tree 2 Clear minis
37 U3C5 Mini Tree 2 Red minis
38 U3C6 Mini Tree 2 Green minis
etc.

Since I started this hobby with only a few LOR controllers and then a few more LEs the U stands for unit. I numbered all my controllers for inventory purposes and then in my excel spreadsheet, that I use to set up my display, I used the same number to represent each controller. That started long before I even knew what a universe was. And this year I will have two SS universes. What a change in just a few years time.
