Title: fm transmitter
Post by: kernal on October 16, 2013,
Searching for a transmitter.  I went to radio shack and the stores around me dont carry any.  Anybody looking to sell one for an upgrade?  Opinions and options greatly appreciated!

Mine came from there has worked fine for the past 3-4 years. I couldn't tell which model I have.

EDM also makes some good ones.

EDM is the best and a very simple kit and come with RDS support.

RAMSEY is a full fledged kit and fidelity is a little less than EDM.

This one is getting decent reviews and is fairly cheap.

Other have had luck with mobile black box, but I believe its mono.

+1

I had read earlier in the year that a certain crane unit with a little tweak of the pot inside was also a good unit for use.  The EDM run about 3x the amazon linked one, but it would be nice to put some text on the radios that support it.

You may want to check the wiki http://www.diylightanimation.com/wiki/index.php?title=FM_Transmitters

I got the CZH-05B-B last year. Nothing fancy, easy to set up and works great http://www.elecsky.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4&products_id=7

EDM is by far the easiest and technically best.  I myself wouldn't trade my Ramsey FM100B for anything and I have owned an two EDM's, it must be the lights.  I have built an FM100B from a kit and it's a challenge.

Those CZH models you can get off eBay and Amazon work good considering you don't need an external antenna.  They are easy to use and cheap.  All in all if money is an issue I would go with one of them.  Actually, two of them, one for a backup.

As long as you stay away from the whole house model you should be in good shape.

I think sound is half the show and it's so easy to get it right with the help from people around here.  I credit taybrynn who helped me out a few years back and we get compliments all the time on our sound quality.
