Ray Wu Alternative source
« on: July 25, 2013, »
Has anybody explored an alternative source for the DiyLight Animation RGB strings etc than purchasing from Ray?

If Ray went away tomorrow  :( or became unresponsive then getting product would become difficult.

In the engineering community it is always good to have a second source for everything. It also keeps your primary vendor on his/her toes and pricing could become even more competitive.

Just thinking out loud.

I have, I know others have. If you do a search you will have many results for the same thing. Ray is usually cheeper than most of the others listed. I have always had good service.
Have Fun!

I had contact last year with Jack Huang. He is a supplier of lights to Ray Wu. His prices were lower, Example: ray $42 for rm 1809, Jack $42 for 5m 1809.

I stayed with Ray because of his track record over many years. I paid to Ray through Pay Pal, Jack just has no history yet.

Sometimes availability is more important than price.

I have had pretty good experience with him as well but he seems to be a little slow responding to an RFQ right now and that brought up potential second sources on my radar. I'll give him a couple more days to respond before I start my second source quest.

At one point Ray was an unknown and it took some time and experience to develop a comfort level with his service as well.

I have lived in HK and know that a business there can be up and operating full blast one day and poof gone the next day no explanation given. And that's when it was under British rule.

$42 for 4 meters Ray ($10.50/m), $42 for 5 meters Jack ($8.4/m)
