Show has been running now for 3 weeks and tonight it wants to start popping the fuse of the left input. I put 1st fuse in and pop within a few seconds. 2nd fuse lasted about a minute now on my third fuse it seems to be working fine at the moment been running fine for about half an hr. Any ideas on what causes the main power fuse to blow and what I should be checking. Or why it has fixed itself on the third try?

You were getting some kind of short either on channels 1-8 OR on the Express itself. Myself I would unplug the express and check the PC board for signs of shorts and then make sure everything on channels 1 - 8 is OK. Because it wasn't working and now it is is it's either a moisture issue OR something that was shorted and has opened to not be a short anymore.

Could to many lights on a channel cause it and if so how many amps is a channel rated for?
-
Sounds like you may have developed a short on one of your lights, especially if it has been wet and your not using ground faults.

The only protection btw lights and controller is the fuse in the strands

The controller is in a custom enclosure inside the garage on dedicated breakers

I would say that you need to really look at your display items connected to the first 8 channels. Was it raining any time shortly before this happened or is there some melting snow? As caretaker said, there is a short at one of the forst 8 channels but it isn't a dead short. It is a resistive short that seems to have burnt away or dried up.

Been dry since Saturday. I'll keep digging and check over everything tomorrow in the day light

Remove the cords form the express and try it. A shorted pigtail will do this to you.
