I think I'd do an 18' megatree with 2-color super strings ... and make it 16 channels (around) x 2 colors (search light mode).

I'm not sure what your 32 strands are (same color, 2 colors, 3 colors).

If you have more colors, you might need to consider instead 8 ch x 4 colors ... and make each channel in "outline" mode (up one side, down opposite side).

If you want a smaller megatree, then just go up and back down and reduce the height as needed for your desired base size to fit your strings either unfolded
or folded.

Just get back to work on that Halloween display and it will free up your mind for Christmas.   >:D

I do a shimmer kind of thing where it goes back and forth from 255 to 50 every other strand if channel 1 is 255 then 2 is 50 and if 1 is 50 2 is 255. it looks kind of cool

My tree is about 17' high and uses LED strings.  I have 16 strings of 4 colors.  64 strings total.  I use 32 channels to control them which makes for 8 channels per quarter and my strings are all separate - no super strings.  Every 4 string is the same color so I connect 2 of them together on one channel.  I use a lot of color changes and color combos.  2 years ago with a different pole I could only put up 32 strings and I thought my tree looked skimpy.  Built a Monkman JUMP pole last year and went back to 64 strings.  The density makes it look a lot better.  Color combos look good like blue and green, green and white, red and green etc.

Using only multi colored minis will introduce some unique challenges and limitations to what you can do.

I finally gave up on using my minis and they didn't fit into a color changing show very well at all and were
better for my static (off-show) hours.

My mega tree setup is the same as JNealands and using all LED's. The Jump Pole is a must for heavy loads of light like this.

The LED's really make the color combo's stand out. Will have the same thing for 3 years.

Maybe this year I can video it without all the technical problems from the past 2 years. No, not my problems but some of the equipment used had limitations that the manufacturer did not want published.

No problems with RJ's equipment.

Forgot to mention that mine are all LEDs.  Red, Green, Blue, and cool White.  I am changing my 3d star over to dumb strings for this year in the hopes that I will end up with a cool white star instead of warm white from the current incan rope light.

Just add a little more blue and you will get the cool white that you are looking for.
