Just a minor diversion from blinky
« on: April 28, 2010, »
Consequences of rain and very weak wood.

The tree needs to come down....  and here I had been creating (in my mind)  ways to use it for hang 'em high blinky...

Just a minor distraction.....

At first glance, it almost looked like a lightning strike. At least it didn't fall the other way <yk..

Hi Larry,

Glad it didn't hit the house or porch.

I do think you need to give that tree some vitamins to promote strong healthy branches

Cheers

Greetings,,,

Just be happy it didn't happen during the wedding.  It wouldn't have looked good for your branch of the family...

WOW, I would have figured the mountain would have blocked most of the storm that rolled thru from your trees. Look at this way.

It is a lot easier to hang lights on the tree now then is was a few days ago.

All of the downed branches are now lining the street .....   looks like I'm either getting ready to build a fort or some mighty big beavers (with chainsaws) have been wandering through the neighborhood and attempting to build that giant dam.     hopefully the city will take out the twigs next week.

Wind was the primary culprit..   The tree stood high enough to pick up a straight line wind that is never felt on the ground.  The only assumption I can make is that the hills actually caused a channeling effect...  and I was the lucky winner.

So was the wind really the primary culprit or a Moose stampede?

Just asking :D

My first thought was that rudolph was doing a trial run through the area....    and got distracted by the dream of Aethers lining the sidewalk.....    <res.

All the brush from the storm damage was removed.....    next stage -  taking down the damaged trees.

Small delay in removing the wood - waiting for ground to dry out enough to haul the disks out on trailor...

Suggestions on how these might be used in blinky welcome.

Greetings,,,

Almost looks like a small stone mausoleum on the left in the first pic.  Halloween?  ;D

Well, you could use them as pedestals for a angel choir...

Staple some orange lights in a circular pattern, add eyes, nose, mouth, and you've got (very heavy) halloween pumpkins.

Its a shame that you had to loose such a big tree. Here in Texas we can't afford to loose big trees. I spend a lot of time trimming and feeding the tree I have.
