Smart strings with C9 covers
« on: December 21, 2012, »
Does anyone here use these and have pictures or videos of them in action?

I was planning to do a GE pixel tree for next year, but it seems they are no longer for sale at any of the big box stores.
I love the covers on the GE pixels and how they look lit up.
Just curious as to how the Ray WU C9 pixels compare...
Thanks

What Ray Wu C9 pixels?

I've seen them other places but not in "Smart String" format. Ray sells a lot of other stuff.

I bought some c-9 covers from ray and they look the same as the ge color effects covers. I did not get to use them this year. they slide over the ssc nodes.

I had some covers sent to me as samples. I thought they looked dim.

Steve, those are WS2801. 12volts, but wrong chip for Smart Strings.

I'll keep looking for any TM1804 that might be compatible. My wife keeps asking about C9s.

Jon,
I know. I don't have SSC's or the hardware. I am not sure which way I wan't to go yet.

Dpitts,
I agree. In the picture they look dim. That is why I brought it up.

The GE lights look great IMO. I would like it to be similar...

I love the look. I am at the fire station tonight but will post some pics tomorrow.

I would like to find some c6 or g5 covers if anyone has seen a source for those for next year.

I used some of Rays C9 covers on my 1804 pixels along the front sidewalk.  The do dim the light a bit, but the effect and appearance is still great in my opinion.  A friend of mine used them on his MegaTree and some of the C7 size on another tree.  I have pictures and videos posted on my facebook page.

I agree the picture looks great but I might need an arrow to the ones with covers.  But then I might have my eyes fixed on that Mega Tree. :)

See link for TM1804 IP68 with C9 covers. Ray has 100's also but I did not see that they were IP68.

These almost look like the node is shoved way to far up in the cover.  If the LED was at the base of the cover the light should disperse better.

You're right, if you look at the pictures of the WS2801s, they are not nearly so far into the cover. Adjustable??

My entire roof is outlined with them, but I do not have any video yet. 365 of them to be exact. I will see what I can do about getting some video.
