Title: Schedule Question
Post by: wbuehler on November 27, 2011,
I have tested the playlist manually and all the LOR files play just fine but when the schedule kicks off it only plays the first entry and then stops.
Am I missing something?

Thanks

Bill

What options are you using on your schedule (repeat, random, etc)?

Just repeat

I sent the other pics that you requested via E-Mail.
But here is the log for the playlist.  It shows only the first sequence being run.

I had that same problem the first time around using the new version.  Since I'm using a dedicated computer for the show I ended up copying all of my sequences and music on the hard drive again.  Solved the problem.

Quick test is I tried to open the same sequences in Vixen on the laptop to see what was going on and even Vixen screamed when attempting to open them.  Got corrupted somehow is my guess.

Try that and see what happens.

Good suggestion Dean. My guess is that the files themselves are ok, but file permissions sometimes get messed up when copying from one PC to another.

There will be a message in the log indicating that the playlist has finished, which isn't shown here. That indicates to me that the playlist didn't end prematurely, but rather that the play back is hung up - probably trying to open one of the files (music or sequence file). Either a permissions problem or you had the sequence file open in LOR, or the music file open in another player.

I removed all the music files lines from the Exported LOR files as I only need them for putting text on my sign and no audio.
Each sequence file in the playlist will play separately by clicking on the row number and then clicking on Play Item.
I only have the LMS files on this PC as it is a dedicated show machine.  So other than an Explorer window open nothing else should have the file open.
I will look at the permissions tonight.

I'm now finding on mine that when it comes to my Soldiers Christmas sequence there is a long delay before it actually kicks in.  No errors noted though.  Kind of strange.

I took all my LOR sequences and made them into one long sequence to get by the issue of it now proceeding to the next item.
This works for the first run but just like it did with multiple sequences it will only play the single sequence once.  I have the repeat option checked and according to the log it still says that it is playing the playlist but no output happens after the first run.

I've been working on the delay issue for the last 3 days. I have a fix that is working and will release it shortly. In xLights 2011d there will be a new File Conversion module. This module can read in LOR or Vixen sequences and output to Vixen 2.1, Lynx Conductor, or a new xLights sequence format. The xLights format loads into the scheduler without any delays.

I have an LOR sequence that is 360MB and would not load into xLights (xLights used up all available memory trying to read it). After converting it to the new xLights format, the file is 7MB and loads almost instantly.

This will also be of benefit to Vixen users because the xLights sequence format loads into the xLights scheduler significantly faster than a Vixen sequence.
