This Coop is for the Lynx EtherDongle.
*********************************************************************************
Please read this post completely before posting in this Coop.
This Coop will have only one option. It will be for a complete kit including PCB, parts, and case.
You will receive all the parts you need to build a complete EtherDongle including the machined case. The Two main chips which are surface mount will be soldered on the PCB for you when you receive it so there is no surface mount for you to deal with.
Please keep in mind that this Coop will take longer than others because of the time required to get the PCBs processed and the cases machined.
Information can be found here:
http://www.diylightanimation.com/wiki/index.php?title=EtherDongleUse (http://www.diylightanimation.com/wiki/index.php?title=EtherDongleUse)
http://diylightanimation.com/index.php?board=41.0 (http://diylightanimation.com/index.php?board=41.0)
*********************************************************************************
The Coop will be limited to 150 kits.
This Coop will close on February 20th 2012 at 8:00 PM Eastern Standard Time or when it fills its limit of 150 kits.
I will be out of town from Feb. 6 to Feb. 20, so I will not be sending payment notices until I return even if the coop closes early. This will also give RJ time to get the PCBs ready.
Full Payment is expected when the Coop is closed. No orders can be made until all members have paid. All members will receive PMs with details or will be directed by post how to pay once the Coop closes.
Please get your PayPal payments in as soon as you get the Coop invoice PM as no orders can be placed until all payments have been received.
By joining this Coop you also agree that the Coop manager, DLA (as a board to also include all administrators, moderators, and members) shall not be held for any liability. You are joining this Coop at your own risk.
As with any Coop this Coop is subject to the forum rules. These rules can be reviewed using the following link.

*********************************************************************************
Here is the pricing breakdown based on the initial quotes.
Pricing is in US Dollars and includes PayPal and Coop fees.
We have a base goal of 100 kits. This goal allows the cost per unit to drop low enough to make it cost effective to run the coop. Below this number we will not make the order.
EtherDongle Kit With PCB, parts and case.
Per Kit At Qty 100 - $93.00
This is an estimate. As always higher numbers reduce pricing and lower numbers increase pricing.
*********************************************************************************
Shipping will be by US Postal Service Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes. All orders will require at least a medium flat rate box since the cases will not fit in a smaller box.
Shipping Charges: for the “Medium†flat rate box with PayPal fees. (In US Dollars)
Domestic: $11.98
Canada and Mexico: $34.21
All Others: $49.64
If you wish to have insurance on your package it is your responsibility to choose the amount and look up the cost to add. You must add this to your PayPal payment and in the comments explain you paid for insurance and how much. We cannot be held responsible for your package once accepted at the post office and we have a receipt of shipment if it is not insured.
*********************************************************************************
Post with the quantity you wish in this thread. Please do not post questions or your thoughts in the coop thread. Start a new thread in the correct area for these. Coop threads are strictly for people requesting orders. If you later wish to change your quantity please post again clearly stating that this is an update to a previous order and how many you wish it to be now.
Thanks,
Rick P.
Edit: corrected coop close date.

Please check your order in the second post on this thread and make sure I have your order correct.
Thanks,
Rick
-
I have all the quotes. However, I have been busy this week getting ready for a trip and I have not had time to calculate the final cost.
I will try to go ahead and get all the payment PMs sent this weekend before I leave. Then, hopefully I will have all the payments by the time I return and can start ordering parts as soon as I get back.
-
All payment PMs have been sent. If you did not receive one, please PM me.
I would like to start ordering parts as soon as I return from my trip. So, please try to have your payments in by Feb. 20th. If you think you will have a problem paying before then, please PM me and let me know.
Thanks,
Rick
-
Just so everyone knows. The PICs for this coop will not be programmed and will not contain any software when you receive them.
1. The PICs are surface mount and will be installed on the PCB before I receive them. The board will have to be assembled before the PIC can be programmed.
2. There are multiple versions of the firmware and I have no idea what each person will want to use.
Thanks,
Rick
-
Thank God I picked up my Pickit3 already! LOL
-
crap i need it flashed for dmx
-
All there are user in the DLA that will flash them, you might have one local to your area.
-
I picked up the PICkit3 using the MPLABX 20% off coupon. I don't know how long it's good for however. I did some searching and this was the best price I found for the PICkit3.
http://microchiptechnology.wordpress.com/2012/01/17/20-discount-on-pickit/
-
While you could do that but first you would have to build it and if it doesn't work, then you might not be able to flash it. The mailing expense would be much higher than the average PIC since you would have to mail the entire unit. If you are going to be using smart strings then you really need a programmer anyway so get the programmer and be ready for the seasons to begin.
-
thanx Jeff for the lead on the discount ... very helpful to my budget. I have a question though ... should I get the PICkit 3 Debug Express or the PICkitâ„¢ 3 In-Circuit Programmer?
-
Also, It looks like the PICkit3 is the only listed programmer. I think this is because the PIC32 chip on the board requires it.
http://www.diylightanimation.com/wiki/index.php?title=Equipment#DMX_Devices
-
Just the PICkitâ„¢ 3 In-Circuit Programmer should do and is what I got. This will connect to the ICSP header.
-
Thanx Jeff... ordered
-
Payment sent.
Thanks Rick!
-
I recently ordered the Pickit3 from Microchip. Got the educational discount, so was happy with that.
What I wasn't happy about was the MPLAB install CD would not install.
The "cab" file was somehow corrupt and kept stopping it.
I searched for MPLAB on the Microchip site and found a slightly newer version. It downloaded and installed without problem.
(I'm at work and can't see the version numbers or successful site address right now, but will add later)
You should note in the Wiki that you should NOT use the MPLAB for doing the programming. You should use the PICkit 3 software. It is also downloadable as well.
-
This PICKIT discussion should be taken to another forum... this forum should only be for the ETHERDONGLE COOP! Moderator should lock!
-
Let's keep this thread about the Co-Op.
Thanks

I do not know the procedure so I'm gonna ask, PM's were send out on the 4th here it is the 11th so 7 days have past by, I see that there are individuals that are will to take of the place of indoviduals that have not paid. At what point will those will you start taking payments from those individuals and blow off the ones that have not paid?
Scott
-
The co-op manager stated in the initial post that they were going to be out of town until the 20th. The co-op originally closed at 8:00pm on the 20th. Typically, the manager announces a deadline to pay by, then if not everyone has paid, opens the co-op at that time for others to purchase the unpaid items and pay immediately.
If I recall correctly, there is no waiting list, being that the object is to get the payments in asap. Unless RJ (or another qualified member of the staff) cares to illuminate us differently, I'd assume that's the way it works.
-Rimist (via Tapatalk)
-
I am currently in Canada and will not be home until the 20th that is why I originally said that I would not send PMs until then. However, the coop closed so quickly I had more time to get quotes. Several people (including RJ) asked me if I would be able to send out the PMs before I left. So, I went ahead and sent them out.
I have asked that everyone try to pay by the 20th since I originally said that I would not be sending PMs until then. A few people have sent me messages saying they would pay by then. I will send out reminders next week to anyone who hasn't paid. If I don't hear back from them, I will offer their kits to other members.

I don't believe the rules permit stand ins. If you missed this one you have to wait till the next one, at least that's the way its been in the past.

This is up to the coop managers. If they have quotes for X and y do not pay they can list the unpaid kits and get them moved. We do this all the time.

...and if we don't do this, all of the prices of the kits will be off based on the initial quotes. Managers might have to refund part or all of the money to develop new quotes and prices, which would be a headache and make the COOP take longer. This could then possibly cause some people to not want to be in a COOP if the price changes too much.

If this is still available (over 150 count by now) please include me for 1 and remind me how to pay.

For anyone that is included in the coop, you can expect a PM with the details about how much to send via paypal -- and to whom. Be sure that your paypal account is properly setup with a shipping address, because your transfer of money will be done as 'goods' and that automatically provides the shipping info with the money transfer.

I made that mistake already...
-
And don't use the paypal mobile app cause it never sends the address! drives me crazy as it makes no sense but everyone I have ever received leaves no address to send to and I had to refund them.
RJ

would like one if there are any left
-
I had a few people that have backed out of the coop. So, in order to keep the prices the same, I will be offering their kits to other members.
I have 3 or possibly 4 kits available. I am waiting on rimist to let me know if he still wants his.
The first 3 (or 4) people that post after this post and who can pay immediately will get them.
Once I see your post, I will send you a PM with payment information.

Any luck on the packaging front yet? Perhaps their plates broke and are trying to get replacements in for it. Well until then....... <;d

Received mine today. Excellent job on the COOP Rick. Everything is so nice and neat and labeled. It must have taken a lot of time. Also thanks to RJ for cooking the SMD onto the board and designing this.

I still have not received the boxes that I ordered, but I was able to get enough boxes from my local post office to finish the rest of the kits.
I'm sorry that I could not get all the packages shipped at the same time, but I expect to have the remaining kits boxed this weekend and will drop them at the post office on Monday.

Thanks for putting this coop together, I know it has to be a lot of work to deal with all of us, sort parts, pack parts, ship parts etc....
-
Got mine today. About to assemble it but had to stop and say thank you.
Your packaging job is fantastic.
Thanks for taking the time, and for running the coop.
Truly a great job on your part. <res.

Rick,
Please don't take this criticism in the wrong way, but the next time could you include instructions to the post man to not deliver it until I get home so I can hide it from my wife? ::)
This darn ED has now cost me a total of $300. $100 for the dongle and another $200 to fill the box with something since I told her there was jewelry in there for her and she shouldn't open it. Man this hobby is expensive.
Thanks for the hard work. We all appreciate your hard work.

Mine arrived today (Yipee).
For those who haven't seen how Rick packed and labeled these up, this is a pic of my kit un-packed on my work bench:
That must have taken ages and ages to pack each item, label them and put into the boxes.
I am in awe of the hard work Rick put into this. Many, Many thanks
-
That's insane! Way over the top. He does an awesome job. I hope he does more coops. I would pay an extra amount just for that product ID. We don't get that from any current supplier that I have bought from.
-
Rick ... you have created and completed an outstanding coop! the packaging and tag identifiers are over the top.... thanx a bunch for your hard work!
-
Well I must say Rick I am totally impressed in your attention to detail as this is only my second co-op and the other one came in about a week ago, I am guessing it is time to finally BUY a soldiering iron and get started with my 1st attempts at building my own boards.
THANKS
Brian Flanders
-
I would avoid the iron and get a soldering station. You will be glad that you did.

I just got my ED about five minutes ago (12:27pm) and I have to say the packaging that Richard went through does show a lot of TLC. I have participated in about ten different COOPs on different forums and I have to say that Rick's is by far the most professional packaging I have seen to date. GREAT JOB RICK! <res.
I appreciate all of your efforts!
Thanks again!

Great coop Rick. You made it easy for me this was my first dongle. Put it together today and tested it. No problems. Well nothing that my Friends couldn't handle. :-X
-
Guys is it to early to ask when there might be another coop for a dongle? No rush just asking...
-
I would say that the chances are pretty good.

All packages should be delivered. So, I believe this coop can be moved to the finished coops section.
If any one had any issues with their package, please PM me and let me know.
Thanks to everyone for making this a successful coop and thanks for the comments.
