John, all:

Thanks so much. I took yesterday off and spent all day at the movies, so didn't see these until this a.m.

(BTW, were movies better back in the 1970s, when I could spend all day at the movies every Saturday and never see a bad one? well, that's my memory, anyway.)

Anyway, the origin of my handle is a combination portions of my first (david), middle (macaulay) and last (cole) names: On many boards/services, I'm dmc, my initials (I chose that on my first multi-user system in 1977). When I join a board or service where dmc is taken, I go for dmcole (initials plus last name). I'm dmcole on DIYC.

On boards and services where dmcole is already taken, I add an abbreviation of my middle name and I become dmaccole (which is assuredly unique). I'm not 100 percent certain why I chose dmaccole here, as I'm sure that neither dmc nor dmcole were taken here. It just happened, as they say.

Anyway, again, thanks all for the well wishes. Older, certainly; wiser -- well, I'm a Christmas-light fanatic, so obviously not.

The first step is to admit you have a problem.   IMHO no problem with the Wish for Peace on Earth and Goodwill to Mankind, no matter how you wish to express yourself.

Happy Belated B'day.
