Anyone have a spare PCB or kit for the AussiePhil ATX power Supply Adapter?
There are enough new people around that I think we may be able to support a new CO-OP for this. The last one was in Summer 2008. I'd even volunteer to do if there was enough interest. These would also be useful in my other hobby of Model Railroading.

I found one of the guys on Aussiephil's ACL Forum sells an already assembled ATX PS Adapter on his own website.
http://www.audiovisualdevices.com.au/viewprod.php?catid=&productid=APC663 (http://www.audiovisualdevices.com.au/viewprod.php?catid=&productid=APC663)
I sent a request to get some price breakdowns. I wasn't in on the previous coop so it would be interesting to see the price break on a coop of Aussiephil's PCB and a parts kit vs getting them assembled and ready to go. I'll post more when I get a response.

I still have some of the PCB's

That doesn't look like the same thing.

Shhhhhh I think the one Phil did for us was better.

Hi
Yes it's me
Bill. How many do you still have? I get asked on and off for them
Leon. Your right they are different
The one from David doesn't have the 12v current support mine does
As for a new buy I think I may tweak the design first
Cheers

If there was another coop for these, I would be in for at least a half dozen.
I also know there are at least 4 or 5 people who have seen mine who would want a couple for themselves.

I'm one of the at least 4 or 5 who've seen kylec's. I'd take some if a coop starts up.

I currently have 60 of them

Bill,
Assuming all the parts are available for the ATX adapter boards you have (Is there a BOM for them?) , what would the cost be?
Since you are shipping me the Aethers anyways (when the co-op ships) I may get you to throw some in if possible....

Here was the last BOM I was able to find for these.

Bill,
What would you want for the PCBs (assuming you want to part with some of the 60)?

Lemme know what you want per board and I'll add it to the amount I end up sending you for shipping the Aether kits when they are ready...
Thanks Muchly...

Bill,
Could I get my hands on one of those? What would you ask for the PCB?

Not trying to steal the thread...
A while back I needed a good cheap 12v power supply to power a car stereo. I did not know about the fancy adapter you guys are using. I just did this:
http://www.gideontech.com/content/articles/196/1
Note the pin out picture for the output voltages.
Some power supplies will shut down if they don't have a load. If so just put a 10 ohm 5-10 watt resistor across the 5V lines http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062291
I also read that you can use a 12 car lamp (dome/brake lamp) across the 5 volt for the load. Again this is only needed in some cases. The power supply I used (an OLD) one needed the load to keep running.
I know this is Micky Mouse way compared to your circuit board kit but I thought someone might want to know they can fire up an old PC power supply very easily.

Ron is right -- the AussiePhil ATX adapter is slick, but there is more than one way to defur a feline. This is my favorite ATX-as-bench-supply tutorial:
http://www.wikihow.com/Convert-a-Computer-ATX-Power-Supply-to-a-Lab-Power-Supply
I don't do the binding posts (I just bring all the 12v lines together and all the grounds together and bring them out via a barrier strip) and have found for Christmas-light projects that the load-resistor is unnecessary. I do add a quick-blowing fuse to the +12v side so that in case I do something stupid I don't fry the ATX.
YMMV.

I got some ATX power supply extension cables (12") and simply cut off one end and connect up all the wires. The power supply itself retains its orginal connectors - but to be honest, I've never had a reason to reuse the supply back in a PC anyway so I've also just cut off the ATX connectors for many DC setups as well.

I am currently letting these PCB's go at $1.00 each + PP + shipping

Hi Bill,
I'll take 5 of them..
Just add them to my Aether shipment and I'll include the extra $$ in mt Aether shipping payment..
Thanks,
Bob

Hi Bill,
If you still have any of the PCB left I would like 3 of them.
Please add them to my Aether shipment and I'll include the extra $$ in my Aether shipping payment..
Thanks

Bill
Please put me down for (15) of the PCB.
Include them in with my Aether Order Please!
Thanks

Hey Bill,
Can I get the same deal as Packetbob?
Thanks

Bill,
As per my PM, I would like to get get 10 if possible. These can be added to my Aether order as well.
Thanks,

I am going to open a Co-Op for the ones I have left.
Let's not Hijack this thread any more.
Thanks
