Total length for a smart string?

I am thinking of having Ray make me special 100 node strings that have three nodes that have 5 inch centers then have 9 inch to next group of three. 5-5-5-9-5-5-5-9-5-5-5-9 ....  Will the added length of wire cause a problem? Is there a maximum length?.

its shouldn't you can up to 5-6' between each node.
