Title: you know when you are setting up too late when...
Post by: ptone on November 26, 2010,
A fun little thread - add yours own completions to this phrase:

"You know you're setting up too late when...."

 - You're thankful when someone drives by for the bit of extra working light.

 - You place wire to strip in the proper gauge slot of a stripping tool by touch.

You are up at 1:00am on black Friday, but are in -10 weather checking channels and not shopping.

It's nov 27th,

You don't have a show sequenced yet!

You are just starting to think about putting stuff out and find everything.

You like a fool in the last month added 3000 additional channels to your show and thats just your mega tree.

You support 1000 other Christmas nuts trying to get they shows up and running.

and last but not least!

You open the newspaper to see a half page article about the house that has all the great lights out sequenced to music and they are not talking about you. It's one of the other 1000 users you support!  <fp.

You know when you are setting up too late when...

It's Nov 27th and you only have 50% of the lights up, 1 song half sequenced and just reinstalled the OS on a questionable laptop you intend to run the show from.

I also want to second Rick's comments!
Without RJ and his families selfless efforts, we would all be struggling to do these awesome shows on the budget we have.

Thanks to all..

You know when you are setting up too late when...

You constantly ask yourself, " REALLY....? "

                               OR

You say to your wife, " Honey, you really need to stop talking to me, I'm trying to think."

And yes, I said that........ I see diamonds in someones future.

The only Christmas sequence you have complete is for 16 channels... you display now consist of 80 channels...

You go out to hang up lights and realize the  new lights sets you bought are shorter then the sets you already have and are going to look like the lights on the top of the tree are burnt out...

You go out checking every store you can think of looking for lights.... you come back with 3,090 more lights for the display and 54 more feet of rope lights...

You then realize that the day you planed to spend putting up a nice portion of the display was instead spent scavanging lights at the store....

Starting to think the goal for 100% with music may be dec 20th at this point... You started planing and building things for the display in June....

O well live and learn...

You go outside after a storm and you found out that the Megatree is gone just a week before the show.

Wow, I thought it was just me and the first year noob thing.

The lights are finally deployed, but the best I have for a sequence right now is a test sequence that lights one string at a time...

It's Dec. 2nd and you only have 1/4 of you lights up.
You are still waiting for that order of female spt1 plugs to arrive.
The icicles you wanted are all sold out.
The electronics were just finished a week ago.

I am begining to think I bit off more than I can chew, because of my very late start.

... the neighbors start asking family members if you are down with a cold because there are NO LIGHTS on your house yet and they know you are a Christmas nut.

Happened this afternoon. The only glimmer of sunshine is that all of my sequences are finished.

... you don't have time to think of a witty remark to this post because you're only taking a break from soldering the last express for your display but your eyes need a rest, you have no lights up, its now 26F outside now instead of last week when it was 60F but you were painting frames for your window lights and wrapping mini trees a month later because the easels were out of stock, and last year it all fell into place and thought this year would be even easier.

"I am being green this year by starting my show one week later"   ::)

"I don't start my show until after St. Nick Day"  ::)

The floodlights the you had screwed to a stake that was hammered into the ground has disappeared under about 2 feet of snow, your trying to put lights up in 2 feet of snow and you don't even know why because you have no sequencing done at all and your still trying to decide between Vixen or LSP? Oh and you have started to work on 2011 light show.
