Title: Unable to run my local database now.
Post by: MrChristmas2000 on December 18, 2012,
I downloaded the latest update for my local install but now when I execute the command:

http://localhost/nutcracker/

I get the following redirection message:

This is the old page on meighan.net
Redirecting you to nutcracker123.com/nutcracker

All data was exported on 12am Dec 18th, 2012

??????????????????

Ok, pull down another zip file from github and update the code. You do not need to install a new database

thanks

Ok, that solved the local host executing problem.

What happened to my models and effects that I had built on http://www.nutcracker123.com/?

Tom; if you created effects on Nutcracker123 before dec 18th, they are not saved.

When i announced the possible move to nutcracker on Dec 15th I gave this warning

"Some Caveats;

The official web site, for now, is still meighan.net. I will do daily exports from meighan.net to nutcracker123, but any changes you make on nutcracker123 will NOT be ported back to meighan.net
This is alpha testing. "

At midnight on Dec 18th I ported all the data from meighan.net to nutcracker123. There are currently 8600 effects on Nutcracker123.

Sorry if i confused you or anyone else. nutcracker123 is now the official site, anything you create here is the official site.

thanks

My models and effects are up on the current site:

http://www.nutcracker123.com/

They just didn't come down when you said to update my local program. I even did an install to see if that made a difference and my data from the old site was even gone. I had been trying to mirror any effects on the two sites basically testing what would work where.

Many times I had an effect that would not create on the old meighan.net but would work just fine on the new nutcracker123 site. After you announced the transfer I checked and my models and effects were what I would have expected on the web, that info just didn't come down with the local install.

Had to drop off last night for my anniversary dinner.

Back at it today.

I have downloaded the currently posted data file from http://smeighan.github.com/nutcracker/
Filename: smeighan-nutcracker-1.0-369-g00fc664.zip
and copied it into my local nutcracker directory.
Did not do an install though. I still am not sure whether to do an install every time or not.

I have posted a video showing the differences I am seeing between the Web and Local here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ms8lV6IGns0&feature=youtu.be

Any further ideas?

install.php will load the most recent 'capture' of data on the on-line database to your local instance of Nutcracker.

The benefit of the install.php run is that it will 'sync' your local with EXACTLY the same data that is on the server (at the time the export was done)

The down-side of the install.php run is that it will 'overwrite' any local changes you have made. You can avoid this if you do the export/import steps that Sean provided in another forum post (I need to find it and post it here). That post defines steps to do an export/import of certain tables in phpMySQLAdmin before and after the run of install.php.

My recommendation to you is to run install.php and hopefully those effects and targets on the server will show up in your local install.

You need to do an install.php.

I exported nutcracker123 into the zip file. You want the effects you were working on nutcracker123.

Everytime you do an install, it replaces your currrent local database.

Ok,

The install did it. I had done an install process before but my stuff did not come over.

Now I will try to do some of the work locally.

Thanks,

Tom
