Ok,
I'm still trying to wrap my arms around this whole universe thing. Please bare with me. This is what I have. From the etherdongle flashed for pixelnet, to the first hub set up pins to the 1st pixel universe. My 33 megatree string seems to fall out of the universe. So, I would then goto the 2nd hub and use set up pins 2 for the second universe to plug in my 33 megatree string and so on and change to the appropriate channeling in lsp. With that I could then go back to the first hub set dmx for universe 8 and use the left over channels with in the universe with the appropreiate channeling in LSP, correct?

33 strings on the mega stree? how many nodes in each string?
-
40 strings 42 pixels per string.

40*42pix = 1680 pixels = 5040 channels
if you plan on 40 strings, and each string on it's seperate ssc, you'd need 3 hubs.
if you zig zagged them, 84 node string run from bottom to top, then again back to the bottom.
you can get away with 2 hubs, and use the matrix option on LSP.
as far as breaking out DMX, if all you need is one universe, then just break it out of the last hub and use the not used channels.
if you need more, then just create an "unused space" in the channel counts on the hub.

I can get away with 2 hubs @ 4096 per hub and some pixel splitters to cover the tree. I'm running a 700watt ps to each hub. My question is I'll have to start string 33 in pixel universe 2 which leaves my around 66 channels in universe 1 left. Can I use these channels for DMX with the DMX universe set to pin eight (or the corresponding universe) on this hub 1. As long as I correspond lsp to the correct channels it shouldn't be a problem right? I appreciate the time, I'm still a little green at this. Until I get my hardware, I can't really test anything, but I realized when I was making my templet in LSP for this year. There was this issue that I'm trying to work around. I'm going from a 300 channel show to over a 6000 channel show. So I'm starting early. :o

Don't forget that unless he is exceeding the Pixelnet universe count he can attach much less expensive passive hubs along with his active hub to boost the number of controllers per universe.

Yup, Yup,
That' what I was planning to do. You see I'm use DMX mega spheres that go to the mega tree and I figured I could use the extra channels from hub 1 for that. Just take the DMX out and go.

There are many ways to set this up... this is what i'd do.
Hub #1 (set to pixelnet universe #1)
String Nodes Chan
String 01 84 0001-0252
String 02 84 0253-0504
String 03 84 0505-0756
String 04 84 0757-1008
String 05 84 1009-1260
String 06 84 1261-1512
String 07 84 1513-1764
String 08 84 1765-2016
String 09 84 2017-2268
String 10 84 2269-2520
Hub #2 set to pixelnet universe #2)
String Nodes Chan
String 11 84 0001-0252
String 12 84 0253-0504
String 13 84 0505-0756
String 14 84 0757-1008
String 15 84 1009-1260
String 16 84 1261-1512
String 17 84 1513-1764
String 18 84 1765-2016
String 19 84 2017-2268
String 20 84 2269-2520
Using this configuration would balance out the load of power between the two hubs
also, the DMX jumper on either / both hubs can be set to use universe 6,7, or 8 as they would be free
(pending you didn't add other elements)
to run the above configuration, you would need a single rail computer power supply with at least 35Amps of 12v power.
(approx a 450 watt computer power supply) for each hub.
