I should be able to keep us stocked with pcbs for the ETD from here on.

I attached a image of the outcome of the test shown. Was very happy with it.

what's the mark on the chip? just from holding it, or is it damaged?

Looks like a reflection. The view from the camera on the pick and place like he took a shot of the screen while it was being placed or inspected.

RJ you never cease to amaze me. You sir are a genius.  <wd..

I designed a device to allow me to see directly down on the chip and still use vacuum to handle it at the same time. It uses a USB microscope to get the view and it requirers the cam to look down through arcylic. That is just it is not perfectly clean and then magnified about 50x. the chip is perfect.

In this picture I am not holding it I just put the finished board in the machine to be able to snap a closeup pic for you guys.

Looks like yer getting commercial RJ! lol

After working for an communications company that did all of this it looks good!  The only thing the company didn't do was their own boards.  They got into SMT parts and once the pick and place machines were up and running things moved along quickly.  While your setup isn't like theirs you have saved thousands of dollars that's for sure.  Just proves that will a little motivation, know how, and time you can do anything! :)

Awesome job!

Looks awesome RJ! Should be a lot faster and better quality control than having someone else do it for you! Now it just takes more of your time!  ;)  <res.

Would it be difficult to duplicate what you made RJ? That way another co-op manager could take some of the load off you?

Nope, pretty easy to duplicate... IF you have a CNC mill in your basement converted to a pick'n'place machine. And a crazy hacked toaser oven that is monitored for temperature... Other than that.. PoC! :)
