To all of our instructors-

We want to be prepared this year and one of the key pieces is having all of our laptops pre-loaded for the Academy presentations.  This will make thing very easy and efficient as we move between classes.  Your presentation materials will be loaded already and on the desktop of the computer in your room.

For those of you teaching software specific classes you should plan to bring your own laptop ready to go.  We cannot load software that we don't "own" and we have found that it's always easier for those software instructors to work from the machine they're used to.  If this is an issue for anyone please let me know ASAP.

So here's what we need from everyone (this applies to all instructors regardless of group/forum affiliation).:

  • Everyone should finish up their presentations and upload them for us (link below).  The sooner the better but please no later than June 1st.

  • "Presentations" doesn't have to mean Powerpoint.  Think of it this way: if you're going to have it on  the screen (outline, pictures, PowerPoint, etc) you should upload it so it's ready for you.  Again, this applies to everyone teaching- LSH, DIY, DFWFH, and beyond.

  • IMPORTANT NOTE: Your material belongs to you. No one at Lone Star Holidays, DIY Light Animation, Dallas/Ft Worth Friends of Halloween, or the Academy team makes any claim to "own" your materials.  We would like you to not share your presentations before the event but after the fact you may do with it as you choose.  In the past (pre-LSH) there has been some questions as to who "owns" class materials.  There is no question for the Academy: you developed it, you volunteered your time, and the material is 100% yours.  We respect you and your time, and thank you for offering it.

  • If you want to use the standard Academy Powerpoint you may download it here: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login.  This is not a requirement but some instructors have asked us to provide this in past years so there it is.  Using this does not change the ownership of the content.

    -  When you click on the link it will open up in Powerpoint and look like a regular title slide with the "4" theme.  All of the different slide layouts are formatted so you should have no problems getting started- it will work like any other template.

    -  To save the theme (and I recommend doing this after you open it but before you start, just so you do not forget) you can click the attachment and it shows you, visually, how to do this.

  • When your presentations are complete please use this link to upload them:  You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login.   All of the files go to the upload folder on our hosted account (but not the web site, so it's secure).
If you have ANY questions please let us know ASAP (shoot me an email at You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login).  Thanks again for your offer of help on the Academy.  YOU all are the piece that makes the event the success it always is.
